THE BALLON D´OR is not for the player who scores more or wins more... the ballon d´or is for that player that is considered THE BEST OF THE SEASON.

So,why are all from the starting XI from Spain?Probably cause there exist only 2 football teams that beat the crap out of others(RM not so much lately).

anyway, if it's for the best player of the YEAR, then Sneijder deserved it 4 years ago and Xavi deserved it 3 years ago.

Well,we saw everything in UCL :)

And this year also,when Borussia made RM look funny...still there is none of it's players in best XI

So Cristiano Ronaldo wins ballon! .

And there is no Pirlo, even though he had one of the best seasons in his carreer and was 2nd best player at the EURO. I guess that's not enough ['].

and Pique...17 first team games in Primera Division, 5 in CL - and he is chosen as best central defender, better than likes of Kompany, or Barzagli.

I agree that Sneijder should at least have been in the top 3 in 2010, but the best player was and still is Leo Messi.

There are much more far better defs than Pique...I think that Ivanović,Srna(Shakhtar),Thiago Silva or someone else should made it instead of Pique/Alves

Unsurprisingly, Messi won it's fourth ballon d'or consecutive, even himself said it wasn't his best season in his career, but he won it regardless; let's just call this prize Messi d'or, it would make much more sense; the best XI was also a joke, let's just call it Best Barca/Real XI Plus Falcao, it would make much more sense; the first six places in Messi d'or belong to La Liga players as well, Pirlo is only seven(!) behind them, even Casillas is rated more...

I can`t see why everybody are so disappointed. The votes were given by other countries not FIFA selected him. And he won by a mile. I am not a fan of Messi either CR, but imo Messi deserved to win. Even though he didn`t win any titles, he did a good job for club and for NT.

The problem is that it's more a popularity contest than a well deserved prize, other than scoring a lot of goals (half of them or more useless) and winning a Copa del Rey what did Messi exactly achieved, were did he was in the matches that really counted? What exactly are the parameters to decide who is the "best player in the world"? Also the inclusion in best XI of only Barca/Real players plus Falcao, even if more than half of them didn't exactly have an amazing season, shows exactly that, maybe 90% or more of the voters only watch La Liga? You simply can't take those prizes seriously anymore.

exactly, the winner should be not the one who won more titles nor scored more... the winner should be always who did it better

Ronaldo was better year before, Xavi was better 2 years before, Sneijder was better 3 years before

btw. some people have revealed that they have voted for Ronaldo and instead, on the list it says that they voted for Messi...
