Outdated rules are normal in many old games.
Howaever, on elefantino's case the rules are ok and the overview is buged... and this is why I love sokker! We have to guess... to play or not to play with the slightly injured player....

This bug is so long that i am starting to think it is a part of the game :D i am not sure if it is like this now, but i remember times when a player had red card for his team, you saw that he can't be used for NT also :D

I think I've just discovered something weird. With new updates looks like now we are able to see training effectiveness. When I make trainer changes, effectiveness also changes in previous reports so this way we are able to see the effectiveness changes before the next training day. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
So, after trying some variations I've seen that:
With 2 Assistants (1 Magical + 1 Brillant) the score of assistants effectiveness is: 84%
With 1 Assistant (1 Magical) the score of assistants effectiveness is: 87%
If I'm using 2 assistants instead of 1, it should increase the effectiveness, not decrease it. If it was like this all these years then why did we have 3 assistant slots and why did we spend all these salaries all these years? or if it is something new, I would describe it as a bug or mistake.
You can try to drop your assistants to 1 with the higher general skill and see the changes yourself in previous training reports.
Please let me know if this is true that using only 1 assistant with higher skill is more effective than using 2 or 3 assistants or not.

It's a mistake from the devs, which they don't seem to be wanting to fix.

of course, that is how it should be as you are at least paying 2x for 3 brilliant vs 1 magical. but it's very unlogical that 1 magical + 1 brilliant is worse than 1 magical. they should definitely consider changing this. it means that my club paid all these salaries for training loss all these long years lol.

The visual representation of effectiveness is faulty when there aren't 3 assistants assigned
To make it clear: this bug only exists on that page. On Thursday morning sokker uses (totally separate) script which calculates training progress correctly. It's worth to have 3 assistants.
thanks a lot. I'll try with first 2 and then next week with 1 assistant and let's see how it will be
