There's plenty of time but I agree in general

Pace training slows down most. Training progress slows down in %, so pace being slowest already means what it is slow with it gets % slower of that too.

Are you really sure here? Is it a conclusion of data evaluation?

Could it not also be with fixed training amount per skill depending on talent and skill level (pace needs more trainings points per skill) and just the training points is reduced depending on training efficiency and age?
