Gunner [del] naar Iedereen
I have seen many sports moments that have change my life in good way and give me an inspiration to continue hard days in life. Like yesterday Noriaki Kasai becomes the oldest ski jumper in history at 41 years and 218 days to win a ski jumping World Cup in ski-flying hill.

And with great pleasure I announce that today my friend from my country Slovenia's Peter Prevc won his first win second day in this weekend competition in Tauplitz/Bad Mitterndorf (AUT)

Since we are at ski-jumping:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Masahiko_Harada

At the 1994 games, the Japanese team had a nearly insurmountable lead heading into the last jump of the large hill. Harada, the team's anchor, had jumped 122 meters in his previous attempt and needed only 105 meters in his final jump to clinch the gold for Japan. His jump was just shy of 98 meters and dropped Japan to second, with the gold going to the German team.

Four years later Harada would again have his chance to deliver his team a gold, this time in his home country. His first jump of 79.5 meters knocked his team from first to fourth and brought back memories of Lillehammer. Then, on his second attempt he delivered an Olympic-record tying 137 meter jump. His teammate Kazuyoshi Funaki would then close out the event with a 125 meter jump, clinching the first Olympic ski jumping gold medal for Japan since the 1972 Winter Olympics in Sapporo.

Second video was also available in japanese (commentator went berserk xD) but it is removed from youtube.

Bradbury is best known for his memorable and unlikely gold medal win in the men's short track 1000 metres event at the Salt Lake City 2002 Winter Olympic Games, owing to three improbable events.

Bradbury won his heat convincingly in the 1,000 m, posting a time of 1 m 30.956 s. However, it appeared that his run would end when the draw for the quarter-finals was made; Bradbury was allocated to the same race as Apolo Anton Ohno (the favourite from the host nation) and Marc Gagnon of Canada (the defending World Champion), and only the top two finishers from each race would proceed to the semifinals. Bradbury finished third in his race and thought himself to be eliminated; however, Gagnon was disqualified for obstructing another racer, thus allowing the Australian to advance to the semi-finals.[13]

After consulting the national coach Ann Zhang, Bradbury's strategy from the semi-final onwards was to cruise behind his opponents and hope that they crashed, as he realised that he was slower and could not match their raw pace.[14] His reasoning was that risk-taking by the favourites could cause a collision due to a racing incident, and if two skaters (or more) fell, the remaining three would all get medals, and that as he was slower than his opponents, trying to challenge them directly would only increase his own chances of falling.[14][15] Bradbury said that he was satisfied with his result, and felt that as the second oldest competitor in the entire field, he was not able to match his opponents in four races on the same night.[16]

In his semi-final race, Bradbury was in last place, well off the pace of the medal favourites. However, three of the other competitors in the semi-final—defending champion Kim Dong-Sung of South Korea, multiple Olympic medallist Li Jiajun of China and Mathieu Turcotte of Canada—crashed, paving the way for the Australian to take second place and thus allowing him through to the final.[16]

And this is the final:

not as spectacular, but still similar: jacobellis (stupidly) giving away the gold medal in snowboarding to frieden:

I remember that one! Sometimes I really wonder.. already tibootje's biker guy would probably have won easily if he wasn't going to perform a useless trick at the beginning. But it adds to the drama :)

My most amazing sport moment was Polish handball team campaign at World Championchips in 2009 (Croatia)

Poland in the first round lost with Macedonia and Germany, starting the next round with 0 points.

The plan was simple: win next three matches and hope that other results will allow us to play in semi-finals ...

Poland beat firmly Denmark and Serbia while Germany only tied with Serbia and surprisingly lost with Norway

Before the decisive battle with Norway, Germany also lost with Denmark what meant:

Poland wins - Poland plays in semi-final
Norway wins - Norway succeed in the next round
Draw - Germany is in the semi-final

and that is how Poland finished with Norway (all the way to the end Norway was 1-2 goals ahead)

what a drama, two minutes to go, Norway is ahead by two goals but Poland managed to equalise 30-30 and 15 second to go, then Poland intercept the ball and score to the empty goal through the whole pitch

no one believed we could win in the last action, during the time-out polish coach said that 15 seconds is a lot to intercept the ball and score a goal :D it isn't but it is possible

Finally, Poland won bronze medal math with Denmark and got the medal
