Tour de France
The Tour de France is an annual multiple stage bicycle race primarily held in France, while also occasionally making passes through nearby countries. The race was first organized in 1903 to increase paper sales for the magazine L'Auto. As the Tour gained prominence and popularity the race was lengthened and its reach began to extend around the globe.
The oldest and most sought after classification in the Tour de France is the general classification. The leader in the first Tour de France was awarded a yellow armband. The color yellow was chosen as the magazine that created the Tour, L'Auto, printed its newspapers on yellow paper. The yellow jersey was added to the race in the 1919 edition and it has since become a symbol of the Tour de France.

Tour de France 2015
The Tour de France 2015 will be the 102nd edition of the Tour de France. It is scheduled to start in Utrecht, the Netherlands. Running from Saturday July 4th to Sunday July 26th 2015, the Tour de France will be made up of 21 stages and will cover a total distance of 3,360 kilometers.
This Tour de France will be the sixth time the Tour starts in the Netherlands, after 1954 (Amsterdam), 1973 (Scheveningen), 1978 (Leiden), 1996 ('s Hertogenbosch) and 2010 (Rotterdam). This is a record for a country that has no direct border with France.
6 new stage cities:
Utrecht (start of stages 1 and 2)
Neeltje Jans (Zeeland) (finish of stage 2)
Livarot (start of stage 7)
La Pierre-Saint-Martin (finish of stage 10)
Muret (start of stage 13)

Classifications
The general classification in the Tour de France is the most important classification of the Tour, which determines who is the overall winner. This classification is therefore considered more important than all other classifications. Other classifications are the points classification, mountains classification, young rider classification and team classification.

Predictions
Reigning champion Vincenzo Nibali has skipped the Giro d’Italia in favour of defending his title, while Chris Froome, one of the strongest climbers in the pro peloton, will also line up with the aim of taking his second victory. Nairo Quintana is also expected to challenge for the yellow jersey, particularly as this year’s route looks to favour him with only one short individual time trial and one team time trial.
In terms of experience, however, no-one can match two-time winner Alberto Contador, who will continue his quest for a Giro-Tour double when he takes the start in Utrecht.
Outsiders to win the Tour de France 2015 are Tejay van Garderen, Alejandro Valverde, Andrew Talansky, Rui Costa, Thibaut Pinot, Bauke Mollema and Michal Kwiatkowski.

Utrecht - the Heart of Holland
Although there is some evidence of earlier inhabitation in the region of Utrecht, dating back to the Stone Age (app. 2200 BCE) and settling in the Bronze Age (app. 1800–800 BCE), the founding date of the city is usually related to the construction of a Roman fortification (castellum), probably built in around 50 CE. In Roman time Utrecht was called Trajectum ad Rhenum.
Nowadays the city of Utrecht is the capital and most populous city in the Dutch province of Utrecht. The fourth largest city with a population over 330,000 is located in the centre of the Netherlands. Utrecht is host to Utrecht University, the largest university in the Netherlands, as well as several other institutes for higher education. Therefore Utrecht is also well known for being a student city. Due to its central position within the country, it is an important transport hub for both rail and road transport.
Utrecht's ancient city centre, with numerous pubs and restaurants, features the famous canals and many buildings and structures several dating as far back as the High Middle Ages. It has been the religious centre of the Netherlands since the 8th century. The Dom Tower (Cathedral) of Utrecht is the tallest church tower in the Netherlands. The 112.32 metres (369 feet) high Gothic-style tower is the symbol of the city. You can climb the tower (465 steps) with a guide, the highest viewpoint is at 95 metres (312 feet). From this platform you have a magnificent panoramic view of the city of Utrecht and its surroundings.
Another famous symbol of the city Utrecht and used for the Tour de France is Nijntje (“little rabbit”), also known as Miffy. The picture books are drawn and written by Dutch artist Dick Bruna. The first book was produced in 1955 and almost 30 others have followed. In total they have sold over 85 million copies, and led to two separate television series as well as items such as clothes and toys featuring the character. In 2015 the Nijntje Museum will be opened.
Utrecht was the most important city in the Netherlands until the Dutch Golden Age, when it was succeeded by Amsterdam as the country's cultural centre and most populous city. Utrecht has the second highest number of (cultural) events in the Netherlands, after Amsterdam.
So don't forget to visit Utrecht when you plan a trip to the Netherlands! ;)

Hoping Froome or Quintana pulls it off,
Hoping the TTT won't affect the GC to much
A TTT as 9th stage is just to far especially for a hectic 1ste week ( Nieltje jans (windy) , Huy , cobbles , mur bretagne ,...)
defintly some teams will loose 1 or 2 guys in that first week !

Seen the Giro participation of König and Porte and the fact that Cavendish was better than Rowe and Stannard on the hilly NC I rate Astana and Movistar higher.

Cavendish is also a better climber than stannard ;) (weight)
But Team sky didn't play the team card ! kennaugh did ride after Stannard (otherwise stannard would have probably won ! )

And this is the first time the Tour de France will use the sensors in real time. (Location, direct speed, stats after the race thanks to all the data during the races etc).
It will be very interesting for the spectators.
