Today I learned: Leela Chess Zero's creators are not even professional chess players. Imagine the same with #medicine - the most advanced medical #AI algorithms created by developers without profound medical knowledge?

This is just incredible, evolution of chess engines and generally AI blows my mind.
Google's deep mind had great success with AlphaZero, then video games like DOTA/LOL
Now they're working on protein folding

nobody knows nothing for sure from ever and ever, even mendeleev's periodic table is a deduction

I studied genetic engineering so of course I'm interested in science :) But clearly other fields than you ... though biochemistry and genetics rely heavily on informatics too :)

short question, what do you know for sure?

few days ago I listened to the podcast aboust crispr cas great stuff.

dont know much about biology but remember fascinating lecture about MMP9.
Theyd edited/cut this gene in mouses and found out it impaired their learning abilities but only about positive things, they didn't have problems learning how to avoid things

Later they studied this gene within some parts of the brain
they found link connecting polimorphism of that gene had links with alcoholism, depression, epilepsy etc.

very complicated but fascinating.

Crispr technique is getting so advanced, I'm quite sure many big breakthroughs could come in the next years with regard to gene therapy etc
