Onderwerp: »[JNRS] Juniors - formidable +

I'm tempted to sell a player to finance it too.

Adam Major, age 17
value: 60 000 £, wage: 525 £
unearthly form
bookings:

average stamina,
average pace,
solid technique,
good passing,
tragic keeper
poor defender
good playmaker
unsatisfactory striker
what about this guy is he worth anything?

Yes it is relative to the coach, and a bit arbitrary.

The coach skill doesn't make a huge difference to the speed that they pop in my experience:

eg One of my most untalented players popped every 11 weeks with a formidable, and every 10 with an incredible coach. A more talented went from about 5.5 to 5, and an 8 weeker went to a 7.

I've never heard of a player popping more often than 3.5 weeks, so I figured 4 weeks or less would be a fair estimate of top-noth talent.

If you're training mids... I need to ship a trainee as I've one too many, but I want him to go somewhere that he'll get trained.

Tristan Bird, age 19
value: 60 900 £, wage: 750 £
hopeless form
injury: (slight injury)
excellent stamina,
adequate pace,
formidable technique,
unsatisfactory passing,
tragic keeper
good (+1) defender
unsatisfactory playmaker
average striker

Pops were:-
3*,5,4,4,4,5,+2 in youth squad (4.4 average)
1* Poor +2 Weak +3 Average (2/0) +3 Adequate (1/0) for pace
2* Good +1 (2/0) for defender

At 20 I guess he'd pop every 3 weeks still, at least. This should be quicker for passing/playmaking. I know he's crap at them at the moment, but as a long termer he'd be an ace middie with that technique - it's just the two seasons it would take to get him there...

I think you'll get a few hundred thousand for him - sell him after the bonuses.
2006-04-06 22:05:15
I need a trainee and as I intend to train PM and passing nearly all next season he might do
2006-04-06 22:24:11
Righto. I don't think he's worth more than £100k or so (well, at least I don't think anyone else would overbid that). If you've got the funds now I'll list him, or if not will wait until next week sometime and list him at whatever time of day suits.
2006-04-06 22:46:58
I have exactly £6888 today ;)

I'll have more soon of course but I think even with a season and a half of Passing and PM he would still be quite relatively lacking in them. So I'd not pay very much.
2006-04-06 22:49:07
Fair enough - I didn't mean that I'd list him for £100k, more that I didn't think anyone would pay over £100k for him. Will list him for nowt next week then - send me an sk mail when/if you want me to list him.

The coach skill doesn't make a huge difference to the speed that they pop in my experience

When I upgraded from a very good junior coach (I think) to a brilliant there was a very noticable difference of 2, possibly 3 weeks on a fair few players. Some of the better results may have been luck due to the timing of part-popped levels, but a signifcant coach increase can do wonders.

An interesting point just occured to me:

It seems that since I upgraded my junior coach last season I've had a noticably better standard of youths joining the junior squad. Is it just me getting lucky, or has anyone else noticed anything similar?

I didn't think anyone would pay over £100k for him.

Maybe not now, but if you do list him toward the beginning of the season you might be looking at a much higher figure.

Ok then, so there's more of a difference from mid-level coaches to the very top ones. Tis interesting that, but still; bet you don't have any popping faster than 3.5? I guess upgrading coaches makes more of a difference to player's who're mid to low talent as they've got more weeks that can be compressed.

Can't say I've noticed the same thing with my coach - with a very good I think I had more nice players joining that with the current incredible incumbent. You're just a lucky boy I think.
2006-04-07 11:00:14
No, nothing faster than 3.5 for me. I think the best I've noticed is 3.66.
2006-04-07 11:09:13
when i had a brilliant youth coach i also seemed to get better youths.

I suspect that there is some form of multiplication going on, a more complicated version of

excellent youth * overall skill of youth coach = total of skills in promoted youth.

When I improved my coach from solid to formidable I went several weeks with nothing.
