I have been CT under 21 for many seasons and I am what it feels like to lose important games.
I didn't go into the merits of tactics, but I said that, for me too, as for the Australian coach, it was at least a draw game. In short, balanced match. If I have to talk about tactics I could fill a papyrus! ahahahahahah

No need for a papyrus, I believe you, you surely know about tactics more than I do. I'm just talking about the tactic for this game vs Australia. I noticed that they have multiple tactics and it'd hard to anticipate which one they'd use. BUT, in all of them they play high and narrow defense. While in the attack the strikers compact the game even more and pounce on the defenders when the ball is in front of them. They're not bothered about passing the ball too much. It's all about getting the ball back and moving forward. Knowing this, I'd have played in a tactic that moves the ball straight onto the wide winger and avoid the offensive midfielder (Gazza in this game). I'm not a fan of the winger man tactic but in this game I'd have played two, not one. On both sides. Having one or the other always available due to the narrow defence.
This is my 'papyrus' for this game. With hindisght and without knowing what skills the players have. So I'm far from being right. But I might be helpful. In the end, that's the whole point in being supportive.

I have already mentioned that tactics should be tailored to the team's potential. And today, there is no potential. The current generation of players is the weakest I have ever had.

My Ferguson might do a better job? maybe not quite ready yet though
England U21's is a tough job nowadays, I know that only to well

You had a heart attack and then decided to take on U21NT?!?!?

I thought the players pool isn't that good, I can tell by the juniors I'm getting every saturday. And more than that, too many choose to buy old players instead of training young ones.
Look after your heart before anything else, the job you're doing is great at both levels, club and NT.

Yes, I had it three years ago. And as for the U21 team, I always enjoy such work from the ground up.
