Today, I am happy because my beloved club won the Łódź Derby.

The history of the Łódź Derby dates back a long time and is closely intertwined with the history of both clubs. ŁKS Łódź was founded in 1908, while Widzew Łódź was established in 1910. Both teams have achieved success in the Polish league, winning national championships.

The Łódź Derby carry not only sports significance but also cultural and social importance, as they represent the rivalry between two parts of the city. These matches attract a lot of fan interest, and the atmosphere at the stadium can be incredibly passionate and intense.

"The 'Eternal Polish Club' - that's how Marek Wawrzynowski, the author of the famous book 'Great Widzew,' referred to the RTS team, which began its rapid and truly cinematic rise on both national and European football fields in the early 1970s.

Even at the end of the 1960s, the club officially named the Workers' Sports Society Widzew was considered a local, district team in Łódź, always playing in lower leagues. And according to many, destined to remain there forever.

However, Ludwik Sobolewski had a different opinion. He dreamt of building not only the best football club in Łódź but also in Poland on the avenue of the Red Army, one that wouldn't bow down to any rivals. Even the renowned ones from Europe.

The legendary president of the Great Widzew did exactly what he conceived, with the loyal assistance of coaches Leszek Jezierski and Jacek Machciński, as well as manager Stefan Wroński. Widzew Łódź quickly moved from lower leagues to the top tier of Polish football, and even more swiftly, it reached the forefront nationally (Polish Vice-Champion 1977), then impressively debuted in European competitions by immediately eliminating the famous English club Manchester City in the UEFA Cup.

Thus began a story that enamored successive generations of fans all over Poland. National championships, elimination of teams like Manchester United, Juventus Turin, Rapid Vienna, Liverpool FC, and Borussia Moenchengladbach in cup competitions, alongside a constellation of Polish football stars including Włodzimierz Smolarek, Zbigniew Boniek, Józef Młynarczyk, and Władysław Żmuda.

In a very short period, Widzew Łódź transformed from a small, district club into one of the best 'export commodities' in the history of Polish football. A club whose roots date back to the times of partitions when there was no Poland on the map of Europe.

It was then (in 1910) that a group of enthusiasts founded the Society of Physical Development Enthusiasts Widzew, and the new club immediately entered the football championships for the city's championship, actively participating until the outbreak of World War I.

After its conclusion, in the new independent Poland, some individuals associated with TMRF (Society of Physical Development Enthusiasts) reactivated the club as RTS Widzew Łódź. It was a working-class club that wasn't among the wealthiest in the city, but it had loyal and characterful athletes, officials, and supporters. They were the ones who, almost in field conditions, managed to create a club they could be proud of.

This mentality endured in RTS Widzew even after World War II when, despite many difficulties and failures, the club survived the worst period. Significant contributions came from players, coaches, and officials from other sports sections of Widzew: boxing, basketball, cycling, and athletics.

Thanks in part to them, the Widzew district had its club in the 1950s and 1960s. A club that was soon to be identified with not only fans from Rokicińska Street or Niciarniana Street but practically every corner of the country.

The 1970s and 1980s marked an impressive streak of successes for Widzew's football players, who clinched the Polish championship twice (1981, 1982), secured five second-place finishes, won the Polish Cup (1985), and consistently participated in European cups. Under the guidance of coach Władysław Żmuda, they reached the semi-finals of the European Cup in 1983.

It was the story of a football 'Cinderella' who unexpectedly but rightfully found itself on national and European stages. Not due to wealthy sponsors or loud transfers, but due to the characterful players who had dreams of their own and wouldn't shy away from anything to realize them, as mentioned by Marek Wawrzynowski.

After them came successive generations of Widzew Łódź players and coaches who also aimed to achieve successes with the RTS emblem on their chest. It wasn't always successful, with ups and downs, but in the 1990s of the previous century, Widzewiacy once again found themselves on the front pages of newspapers. Under the leadership of coach Franciszek Smuda, they dethroned Legia Warsaw and secured two consecutive Polish championships (1996, 1997), and after a memorable match against Danish Broendby IF, they advanced to the group stage of the Champions League.

In matches against Legia and Danish teams, Widzew was like a Phoenix rising from the ashes. They would often be trailing, only to dramatically reverse the match in the final moments. This became a hallmark of that team, of a group of players with character.

When, in one of the most difficult moments in the history of RTS (2015), such players were lacking, Widzew fans demonstrated character. They reactivated the club and faithfully supported it through a long, eight-year journey back to the top division. In 2022, fans, players, coaches, and club management achieved their goal. Widzew Łódź returned to the top division, and despite occasional challenges and critical moments, it proved its resilience. This is a story that has been ongoing for over 110 years."

Widzew Łódź became the first team in 1977 to defeat an English club, Manchester City. We have incredibly loyal fans who, even after the club's relegation to a level five divisions lower, continued to support their team by purchasing season tickets in large numbers. There's no other club in the world quite like ours.

The Dance of Elena" is the team's anthem that creates an incredible atmosphere. I hope these pieces of information are interesting for you.

Today we kicked off the Druid's Cup U20/21 - third edition with a 5-0 victory over Ireland. It seems like the opponent didn't prepare for the match, as it was an easy win. They had the opportunity to use 4 U21 players, but they didn't do that. I could have fielded two players for the match, and of course, I took advantage of that.

Today, the Polish U21 national team claimed the World Championship title! They only lost one match, which happened to be against England. It's a pity that we were placed in such a strong group. In two seasons, I hope we can achieve a historic success.

England is once again in a situation similar to the World Cup. Before the last decisive match, we are leading the group, and in case of a loss, we achieve nothing. Just a reminder that only the group winner advances. Now, we're playing a match against Turkey.

I find the rules of this tournament quite appealing, as they allow weaker teams with lower rankings to utilize more players under the age of 21. Of course, even with these provisions, there are teams that struggle to make the most of this opportunity, often due to factors such as having a less experienced or capable coach. Admittedly, everyone agrees to these conditions before the tournament starts, but it's only natural that some might seek excuses to justify their defeats.

England, for instance, has the chance to field two such players under the age of 21, whereas Turkey is restricted to players under the age of 20. It's a dynamic that adds an interesting layer to the competition, enabling teams to tap into their younger talents and potentially altering the course of matches.

We have an important match against Turkey now, but the performance of our key players has declined.
