The modern game is a lot about pressing and Mount work rate is just higher. Personally I prefer Grealish as a player but he is more of a wider player than Mount. Either way not a bad choice to make. Can't loose either way. I would for the final have Grealish or Sancho ahead of Saka due to their better ability 1 on 1 as Lb for Italy is their main weakness (Chelsea Reserve player) but Southgate may just move Sterling to the right.

Not getting carried away as seen too many false dawns.

Mount is a great, well-rounded player, Grealish seems more effective as a sub when the opposition have spent 60/70 minutes getting used to our lineup, he comes on and finds space and instantly starts creating chances. Think he'll maybe start with Sterling and Sancho or Saka for the pace they offer against their ageing defence?

Mount was poor in the final and tbh through most of the tournament….I do think he’s a good player though! Grealish should have started or come in earlier imo. I thought we were too negative after going ahead early on…..and for fucks sake stop all these shitty run ups for penalties!

My run up (or used to) for penalties took 1 min and 18 seconds exactly.....although running all the way from outside the football park (ground) was knackering

i think for the players who England had.... were more than capable of winning the euros and have an unbelievable squad..
With that amount of talent it is very hard to keep everyone happy and that is where the issue is

you need a manager who will cope with that..... Southgate is a good manager but loyal to those who are loyal to him

Southgate does worry me going forward as he seems to over think his tactics too much. He thinks how to stop their team more than we are a great team they should be thinking how to stop us. Two DM and 5 Defenders in final shows this. No one should have 2 DM with a back five unless you are Faroe Islands taking on Brazil.

Yes we got to a semi and a final, but in WC we lost to every decent side we meet (to semi, Belgium and Croatia) and Euro the only 2 decent sides to Final was a very week Germany (weakest I can remember) and Denmark without their best player.

Semi and Final looks unbelievable on paper but we were extremely lucky on both times with draw.

We could end up wasting talent like Grealish, Sancho, Saka and Foden as Southgate will go 2 DM going forward with God Son Mount.

i just hope Grealish stays at Villa ...... cos we are MASSIVE!!!!! :P

I agree with all of that Wayner, 2 def mids is ok but play 4 more attacking players with a back 4….we were far too negative!
