@Swampmonster & Fenland...It's a shame for the English national side if you don't have a junior team but obviously for reasons mentioned it hasn't been financially beneficial. A few seasons back when I was in the prem, I decided to sell all my players over 25 and just invest in youth (mainly English players). I have unearthly coaches, that cost a lot but I've been able to afford them, due to sale proceeds. I've gradually started adding older, higher skilled players to compliment my youngsters, whilst also making my team a little more competitive.
I am actually far more excited about training my young talent than winning games, at this stage. Once my youngsters are stronger, I'll be concentrating on trying to win and get promoted. I think BR has a model side and plays the game the right way...
I'd personally not want to have too many old players in my squad. Their skills and value drops, also they're not really trainable. My opinion is that you only lose on these players in the long run. However, having some older players does make competitive and buying them can be a cheaper option. So I can understand why people have a few older players (30+ yo) in their teams.
Good luck with whatever you decide. Hopefully your financial situation improves.

I can offer you a good amount of money for Mark Sterling. With that money, you could buy more young players for training.
I kind of did along those lines. There's definitely some gems out there for not very much money, but it's finding players with talent. However if they prove talentless, easy to sack them.
Yes exactly. Sell a star in the making. l am criticised fur having an old team but middle ranking teams have to sell their young stars to survive. I tried selling a striker l developed. He is 32 now but 17 scoring and 12 pace, and he only just made £150k. The only way to survive is sell young and buy old.

Sometimes we come across very talented players emerging from the Academy, but they are poorly distributed. Such a player, with the right training, can certainly bring in a significant income.
In my opinion, you should sell the young players and buy new ones for training. There is no other option.
When you sell also makes a difference. 32 is past peak. Optimum age seems to be 26/27, after that point value heads rapidly downhill.
Rupert WaIker, age: 19, height: 176 cm
value: 109 800 £, wage: 1 215 £
club: RTS Widzew Łódz, country: England
solid form, outstanding tactical discipline
very good stamina, hopeless keeper
good pace, very good defender
solid technique, average playmaker
formidable passing, adequate striker
Rupert Walker came from my academy with poorly distributed skills. If I had sold him right away, I might have received £1000, but I decided to train him, and he's starting to look better. Additionally, he turned out to be a talented player, so at the age of 21, he could be sold for even more than £3 million.

I have never been able to understand how you can afford to do what you do because of the loss of income and the high cost of coaching. I would love to be able to retain my promising players and it is precisely that desire that has helped to get me into financial trouble. I really don't get many decent players through the junior school, despite having magical coaching.

My basic financial position is explained by a projected 410k reduction on ticket sales this season. I will make a surplus in the transfer market by selling three players and player wages are lower; the only rising expenses are trainers salaries and stadium expenses; looks like I over-invested under the old financial regime and need to reframe my coaching staff and demolish some of my stadium

Now I look at it, almost all my costs are down but I get just over half a million less from sponsors and seasonal bonus because I got relegated from the Premiership. Well at least I know now. Doesn't solve anything, though. Thanks for the heads up

Hello buddy...
Yes, I've done a lot of buying and selling over the many, many years invested in this game.
I always do a bit of wheeling & dealing. I'll be at it again soon. I've got three high salary players that I'll sell once I think I'm safe-ish from relegation. Will aim to reduce my wage bill.
I think with the junior side, it's great to bring through future talent and either sell when convenient (& generating maximum profits) or train them to a good level. I've got a few players in my starting line up now that have come through my junior team. I get great satisfaction from this.
The downside is I'm not always as competitive as I can be but I'm longer at the bigger picture.
Also, I suppose it depends what you want out of this game. We all have different aspirations. I enjoy training young English talent and others might just want to win and buy whoever they need to achieve this...
Whatever you decide, good luck. However, if you ever decide to reinstate your junior side, you'll make me happy :)

Looking at my own expenses last season:
Player wages: 2.5m
Trainers: 1.4m
Club Facilities: 300k
Junior Academy: 230k
Junior academy isn't actually as a percentage a huge amount of expenditure. Rather than scrapping, you'd be better off having lower coach levels and being more ruthless with the players you do and don't keep. Contrary to popular belief, I don't think you need magical etc coaches for juniors, a formidable/excellent coach although not as good will give decent value for money.

Looking at your stadium, rather than demolish it's an area you should invest in.
There's no reason at all not to have an all seater under the roof. Costs a bit to get it done, but in the long term best way forward. 37.5k isn't huge and even in II you'll fill it with right ticket prices.

Transfer market is the way to earn money. I bought a 21yo striker 12 10 11 for 270k month later he was 12 11 12 sold him for over 800k another example at the end of the season i bought 17yo striker 7 7 7 for 240k he wasnt very talented but season later he was 9 9 8 sold him for 1.6m
And if u dont have money train defenders get 18yos with atleast adeqaute in both pace and def and after 3 seasons of def and pace training even if they have shitty talent u sell them for good money
