Hmmmm ??

Is your nan hot?
2024-03-23 08:47:14
Unfortunately my Nan's are no longer around, lost my last remaining grandparent about 5 or 6 years ago now....she reached 99 bless her. I have seen pictures of her and my grandad when in their 20's and they looked a very attractive couple ;)

Sorry to hear mate :(

I still prefer when it's spelled Inter Mynan ;)
2024-03-23 08:59:05
It was late lol....I put as much effort into my spelling as he did into the team name ;)

My Nan had a great long life. Lived in the East End through both wars, born at the start of the 1st world war and was 21 at the start of the 2nd......told me some amazing stories of the blitz bombings etc.

No one tells amazing stories like her generation anymore.... and look at now... :(
2024-03-23 12:41:10
I know! Can you imagine going through what they did now and watching people having to go to war.....it must have been terrifying!
2024-03-23 13:18:44
My Gran made 93, we all thought 100 easy, so your nan also beat my gran into 2nd like you :0 or have other users come in between? [errr lol]

Always wondered why people say nan over here, i think because everyone had 2 to differentiate, because Nan comes from America ie Nanny, and they are just baby sitters

My cousins called 1 nana [cuckoo had a cuckoo clock] and other nana choo choo, [near train track] lol just call 1 gran and one nan, I used to say
(gewijzigd)

My grandad's stories were from the other side (he was in the Italian army).

Before you say anything, trust me, war is awful no matter which side of it you are. Shame that that lesson was wasted and even at this moment we have people calling for it. And many of them are rulling us.

Forest Hill in the cup. Played them in the off-season so I know what I'm getting, but this game is coming a week too early for me to be competitive. Need to focus on the first 4 league games.

Camus naar Camus
Wait, we have a division 4 now?

I mean it's not important at the moment because no-one is going into it, but I suppose it's a positive for division 3 if that league can actually become (and stay) active.

It would be strange to hear stories from the Italian and German side as most I hear are from the UK and allies.
Respect to your grandad for his stories ;) like you I think it was wrong and a waste, some of the stories on documentarys on tv about the u-boat captains are mental.
The ones recent now are just greed and trying to wipe out certain areas :(

Tbh, he didn't speak much about war. Most of men involved in the war did the same, on both sides. It's a horrible thing and not something to bring up at the dinner table. Besides, all those who go to war, once they come out of that group mentality, they live in hell. Unless, they are pure criminals and they enjoyed killing people. People who talk about war are usually those who don't get directly involved in it and they only gain advantage by entertaining it (aka politicians). I don't think there's a difference between one side or another. The moment someone shouts for war is the same moment their intelligence and humanity reached their limits. And millions of people die as a result of their incompetence and other millions live in hell. It doesn't matter who won, all our grandads that fought the war died with the image of those young men they killed back then. I doubt that any of the nations leaders back then had the same agony on their death beds.
I'm looking at 'the most civilized army' right now. In two years time those soldiers are going to live in hell, no matter how many free pints they will get. Nobody who's been involved in war could say is the same person after. A war has more casualties than the bodies we count at the end of it. And all of the wars are avoidable.

I would think that most soldiers don’t talk about war once they are out because of the fact that they don’t want to remember the awful things they have seen or maybe been forced to do. I just can’t imagine it.
