Onderwerp: Soliciting of thoughts, advice, and complaints...

So the part of the game I really like is developing and selling still young players. I've won my A league a couple of times, but my team is starting to age(by my standards) and I'm stuck on the fence between developing them into a competitive ML team or having a big sell-off, get back to being young and developing plays in hopes the next wave of developed players will be more competitive, younger... Looking at average ages, the average A league squad is several years older than mine, and I could try and get there... but I wanted to be crazy young for my first year at every level, and I just don't see how I could do it and make ML.

I'm looking for advice from the elder-statesmen of the group. Is my desire to be entertained and develop players and bounce from A to B every couple seasons well founded, or just what happens when you know the uphill climb it is to get into the ML...?

A little more information would be necessary to give you good advice. You've got a bunch of 24 and 25 year olds on your team. Are those your older trainees, or non-trainees? What's your bank balance?

old trainees, that i'm still training for the most part. depends on my desire to go to ML. i could train them to ML and bring my trainees along as well...

i got like 1mil in bank...

Sell the old guys in week 2, and buy younger 22'ish trainees. Try to get there after next season.

I would go younger than 22 myself as a 22 year old you really only get 1 solid season of training.

I mean 22 next week, after he sells his old guys in week two. If he can find one, a 21 year old right now would be good.

It happend with my last team. What I did was to change2 players every season. It works nicely when you have A team squad of age around 25 and squad of 19 year olds for B team. Like that you train your own players since they are like 17, when they are around 21-22 they go to A team and when they are around 25-26 you sell them, take players from B team to replace them and buy new 17 year olds for B team.

I don't think you can afford to buy 21-22 year olds good enough to train and compete in the ML.

I would suggest spending it on younger players, 5 or 6 17-19 year olds and training them up for a few seasons and then adding 5 or 6 more as there eventual replacements. Sell off the older trainees(22-23 year olds) to replace starters at other positions. Keep the cycle going, once you reach the ML you will need to keep your trainees a bit longer (24-25 years old) if you want to finish in the top half.

i already told him this privately, but seeing how no one has brought this aspect up i will share with the rest of you:

another large focus of his should be getting good at tactics. he can fend off teams with marks 5pts higher than his with a good tactic. and the thing with tactics is you could literally fix it right now and have your team perform twice as well this very next sunday

I agree, he has same tactics for each match. At his level he has to change tactics almost every match. Look at the opponent and see what tactics they play and make special tactics against every single opponent. The only reason he tied with Hammer was because Hammer used wing and ivysafety don't have the wings defended. His wings defenders are pushed forward which makes it easy to make tactics against him.

My wife and I just had twins... so that whole scouting and changing tactics thing is probably not going to happen... and I know exactly where my wings are. Question: If my wings are pushed forward, do you think I consider them to be wing defenders?

Umm, I never change tactics, with the exception of having an asymmetrical lineup that I flip to the opposite side randomly. And I do quite nicely.
