Mr-Llama [del] naar Iedereen
As before I am running for NT coach. I know last season was a little downhill and looking back there were definitely a couple tactical errors on my part. That being said, I felt red cards and injuries were a little over the top and played somewhat of a role for that drop. Our talent pool has also dropped a bit (as mario.t has agreed). That being said, I have made a lot of cuts of the older players on our team and have brought in a lineup of the next generation of our NT (with the exception of a few old midfielders since we really lack the players in that area).

This season I plan on once again qualifying for the world cup and hopefully bringing our team rank up a bit. I have learned A LOT over the past 2 seasons and I'm ready to apply my knowledge.

You all know how actively I participate in this game. I love it so much and spend my off hours just watching sokker games. I will continue to have that dedication and I'm ready to continue my journey as the NT Coach

As always, I will answer any questions.

Edit: In other news I'm also in A league now after autopromoting, finishing 1st in GD amongst all B leagues and going undefeated, 14-0-0

Can you clarify your expectations for midfielders (with spiting them for field sections)?

Thanks
2012-01-30 17:24:48
my expectations for midfielders are simply based on the talent that we had before

looking at oaker, galloway, valentine, etc, there was just so many more skill points than we have now.

Example:

A midfielder of old would be somewhere along the lines of:

pace unearthly
tech unearthly
pass magical
def divine
pm magical

If anything, their worst skill was usually incredible/brilliant and so you still ended up with a 5-skill sum of 74+

now our midfielders look like

pace incredible
tech brilliant
pass magical
def formidable
pm brilliant

There is just a drop in every aspect. Even today with Galloway being 33 he still is probably a top 3 midfielder and that just worries me.

What also is troublesome is our defenders have lost their secondaries. A few seasons ago we had such good players we were actually able to play someone like valentine in a defender position. This was HUGE because it made for such a smarter player that really helped the team.

Typical defender now:

pace divine/superdivine
tech excellent
pass good
def divine/superdivine
pm good

Before:

pace divine/superdivine
tech brilliant
pass magical
def divine/superdivine
pm brilliant

now our midfielders look like

pace incredible
tech brilliant
pass magical
def formidable
pm brilliant

Is it some kind of median data for mids? I don't believe 25-26 yo are that low (based on Tarley's skills and value of others midfielders).

Edit: Also you need to split it between MID, MID-Wing, MID-Def because you never get a winger which will play as defending midfielder.

If our NT mids are that awful, then I REALLY should be training some stud US pulls. A guy I'm about to sell next season at 25 years old currently looks like this:

Baltasar Choy, age: 24

club: Nanook of the North, country: Uruguay,
value: 1 304 750 $, wage: 15 400 $,
good [7] form, brilliant [14] tactical discipline,
height: 177 cm

formidable [11] stamina average [5] keeper
brilliant [14] pace outstanding [12] defender
unearthly [16] technique outstanding [12] playmaker
unearthly [16] passing excellent [10] striker

And he's not even my best.

Idk from where Llama is getting those skills data :\

Gabe Chase is the future!

I am getting those stats from our players mate

We are just in the middle of a bad gap is all. Tarley is our next up and coming midfielder and I think we have a couple more around his age group that will once again restore our midfield to power. Then behind him we have players like Winslow and such

we just had like a 6-8 season gap of not very much production in the midfield and it's hurting us now.

Also, yes I'm talking about midfielders, not wingers. Wingers we don't have anything AMAZING but Presley and Thorne pull their weight pretty well and I've been satisfied with their performance. I still hate Hale though and he has been a major flop.

In my opinion, you don't really separate midfielders and defensive midfielders. In this game all midfielders need defender (besides wingers) and I believe dagwood would agree 100% with that statement.

Example of what we have: If I look in our database for a player with these skills or greater (my own personal database and the ntdb) I only find Tarley, Gilmore, and Adkins (or players who are 33+ and haven't been updated in ages). Even then those players are still pretty close to the line and only have a couple skills that exceed my limits.

pace incredible
tech incredible
pass incredible
def formidable

Hale just needs better guidance.

Oh and he hates you too.
2012-01-30 20:45:00
he has screwed me one too many times.

he is the perfect example of the difference between U21 and NT. Amazing U21 player because he can get by the defenders and has awesome passing. In the NT he can't even get in a position to pass the dang ball.

I hope he hates me, I run him extra hard every practice.

Ok enough of the humor let's get to the serious questions:

1) what have you done "on-the-field" to warrant re-election?

You were 1-2 in WC matches and 4-6-2 in friendlies. In the friendlies your wins have come against teams currently ranked 46, 76, 79 and 84. Not impressive to say the least.

I will give you the WC win was against a very good Netherlands team. Bottom line is other then the upset versus the Netherlands you have only won games you should have easily won. And with a couple of exceptions your losses have been to good but not great opponents, so you were unable to pull out an upset other than a couple of draws, but your losses also include a loss to 54th ranked Costa Rica.

Because of this we have plummeted in the world rankings.

2) Will you continue to be incorrigible, stubborn and combative when offered advice? You fight everything, make irrational responses, and when called out, either ignore it or say "only joking" I will give you that you have caused the NT to gain more interest, but it is because you are polarizing in your comments, and irresponsible with your tactics and player selection. Will you actually listen to proven managers like Slammmy and Dagwood (dare I say even me)? You have shown nothing but disrespect to their advice. Both have successfully managed at the NT level and won the ML, you have finally made it to A league after several seasons and have shown little capability on the NT level.

3)You are going to rely on your "experience "as an advantage over your opponents, but to me it is hardly convincing. What exactly do you foresee as needed changes to make this team relevant again? If you say nothing needs to change, then that will open more questions.

IMO your campaign has been a failure, you do not give me any hope you will actually make changers to improve the NT, and I am confident that you will have a difficult time qualifying for the WC because you have maneuvered the team into an unfavorable draw position.

I will be honest and tell you my current vote is for mario.t. I really do not see how you can convince me to change in light of your performance as a tactician and the team you put out. But I will listen to what you have to write. I will say, you are a keen scout of opponents, but it does not translate into how you perform in matches.

I see all of your concerns and I will gladly answer the best I can.

In terms of the World Cup, I blew it. I don't remember exactly what was going on in my head during that first week against Argentina but I put at least 20+ hours into that game...that being said, I think I overworked myself on it, over thought everything, and put out the worst tactic I have made in this game in 2+ years. I changed that tactic at least 20 times (literally) and ended up ruining the flow and forgetting my whole initial goal of having the defenders charge up which cost up the game and a chance to finish in 2nd place.

From there I knew I needed to recover and make it up and I ended up completely wiping the table clean of the Netherlands beating them convincingly 2-1 with only 9 men on the field. I also put up a pretty good tactic against Poland and despite another awful red card and being out of town without internet (thus leading to not being able to setup the match orders to fill the red card spot but you remember me talking to you about that whole ordeal) I still ended up with the lowest goal differential loss to Poland in our group.

As for the Costa Rica match, I am still very uncertain as to how that happened. The match was scheduled only under the conditions that I play U26 and it was late in the week and I didn't have a friendly setup (or some other team accidentally scheduled over, I can't remember exactly what happened). I felt like it was a fair compromise and that we could beat them still U26 vs their full team. That being said, we were dominating the game until we got yet another red card and then somehow they managed to put in 5 goals on 11 shots with mediocre strikers vs a superdivine/superdivine keeper. A lot of times I will rewatch matches to try and figure out what I could have done better but that match disgusts me so much I cannot bare to watch it again. The momentum shift after that red card was SO HUGE that I honestly have no clue what happened.

Where I also take the blame and what I have definitely learned is needing to play the rating vs ranking game. There are numerous teams out there whose ranking does not reflect their rating and my picks for friendlies have been HORRENDOUS and ultimately led to the decline in a ranking of our own. I spent so much time watching games and preparing tactics that I never really took the time to study which NT's were overranked and would really be the best teams to play a friendly against to improve our ranking.

I promise that if I am re-elected again I will dedicate a good portion of my time to consistently check the rankings of other teams and try and schedule games to get us back into the top 32 with ease.

To answer your second question I feel that is too far in the past to bring up. Besides Slammmy who I feel just likes to insult the llamas, I do not think I have been ignorant or argumentative over the course of the past season. My first season definitely had more attitude but I believe I have calmed down and really started to appreciate the advice anybody gives me.

Answering your 3rd remark, yes I will definitely say my experience is beneficial in helping me coach the NT. Not only have I been doing this for 2 seasons and seen how every game has turned out with my decisions, but I know everything about every player and have more knowledge about these players that isnt written down anywhere to share but just stuff I know and keep track of in my head. After coaching the U21 team for so long I'm sure you know exactly what experience means and how helpful it is to be familiar with the team you are coaching (and how they stack up vs other teams).

To sum it up, here is what I will change:
1. I will actively spend time building an advantageous schedule for our team to boost our ranking. We need this boost in our ranking right now and I didn't value it enough in the past and for that I truly apologize.
2. I am going to be more active in perfecting the little things in my tactics, because those are what count at this level. I have made relationships with many coaches who I talk tactics with all of the time and I really want to spend this season focusing on all the little things like throw in placements and striker placements that really can take advantage of the ME. There is still plenty to learn and I'm prepared to dive even deeper into the world of tactics.
3. to state it simply: I will take advice from everyone. That being said, I will definitely counter, but not to argue and defend myself but only to learn. In the past I have probably come off as argumentative so I will try to change my tone so you understand maybe I am just confused with your advice and want clarification.
4. I have qualified for the World Cup in the past and I will qualify again. I know our position will change but that is not going to affect me. This season I will lead us even further into the cup than before, and hopefully be a little more lucky than to receive at least 1 red card in every world cup game...(I MEAN COME ON)

You know I'm dedicated, but now I've established better goals and I have an improved process for attaining those goals and I hope you feel you can vote for me.

I have to agree with mrhfan, really? Go back and look at your post game discussions. You are sounding like Newt here.. the facts are there, but you are dismissing them.
