Onderwerp: [NT] USA NT - Discussion
So, the fair question for Releme is : Why is he not using these players?
Goodfellow - Form 10
Garfield - He played
Goodfellow - Pace 15, Form 13... he is good, but there are other better options. I didn't use any defenders with Pace 15, and they all had better forms.

All of our defenders were in brilliant/magical form. Our defenders reliably (looking at past results) get in the mid 60's. That's not good. I have a couple guys getting that, and they really aren't great defenders. Padded by subskills.
I don't remember that being a problem for you last season when you were saying that USA underperforms.... now it's excuses town :) and yet last season USA was capable of beating Mexico that has same strenght as Osterreich
-----------
So, I decided to check an earlier match in the cycle here:
https://sokker.org/comment?matchID=41631036
A totally different back 5 save for Zeus. All in good form, too. Yet they also produced similar low numbers.
and what does that tell you when in 2 games against strongest opponent he uses totally different defenders? and not only defenders :)
-------------------------
The difference is these three defenders: Goodfellow, Garfield, and Gentry. That's your '3 point difference'.
nah, they are part of it, but there's more - like not using Avren at all, who is from what I see your #1 midfielder and should play even in mid form (especially to try and boost his form, sometimes it works)
anyway, I think it's enough of this forum for me, hope you get someone better next time :P

In my view, he's certainly better than Adivip, who has had many seasons to not be terrible at his job. His sole contribution was training U21s for Norbert. That's general manager responsibility, not coaching.
The one thing that impresses me about Releme is that, unlike Adivip, he is improving his tactics over the course of this Cup. His first week was atrocious, no question. He didn't have a meaningful tactical problem today. He ran into a guy who scored 6 goals on 10 shots. That's some lol ME action right there.
Ultimately, It's not for you lot of Polish team owners to come in and troll Releme every damn week. Get a grip and mind your own collective business. If other American managers want to provide criticism that's different, I certainly won't stop them.
All I see is a bunch of infantile bullying going on here for the past two months.
As far as me, I'm in no position to run for these teams. Not for another 5-6 seasons when I decide to do my own rebuild. Then I'll have 3-4 seasons of time on my hands to commit to this.
Until then, all I care about is winning every game possible with my own club, despite having an inferior pool of players to many. It's going to stay that way because I am doing this with first gen players, but I suspect before I rebuild I'll win at least one ML title.

I have to say I am reading this threads more than I have to others in any other country. Releme - nothing has been posted to warrant any punishment and I have also organised things as you’ve requested so I don’t appreciate your comment about moderators “not doing anything”.
As for the rest, comments by many users are provocative and I’m really unsure what the agenda of these users are?
I suggest all negative comments from users from non USA players are ended, this is the US NT thread ……..at the end of the season if people want to stand and then comment on this seasons performance then do so. It’s getting quite draining reading the negative comments for now, if a US player has negative comments then it’s their team and they have a right to express their feelings.
I hope that’s clear for everyone?

It's just straight up harassment, and it should have ended after week 1 or 2 of this season. The time to critique Releme's (or anyone's) performance is during the next election cycle - and preferably by opposing candidates and American players only.

I said what I said, precisely because I agree with what you said here. And I even realize that they know how to speak, to avoid punishment. Still, something needs to be done. What they do is incorrect and causes a lot of discomfort, making other users like me lose the pleasure of playing.

I have stated above that the time for any critique is when the election comes again from foreign users, if US based players want to comment on their team that’s absolutely fair. ;)
Portugal (4) - (1) USA
This game was a big joke... and then they expect me to trust the game.
We made 11 shots against 8!
We had 65% possession of the ball in the opponent's half!
I made a substitution, where I put A.J. Garlick in position 10! However it is clear from 2D that he played in position 8, in midfield! This hurt the USA a lot.
Portugal had 1 penalty and it was a goal. The USA had 2 penalties and missed both. Portugal scores everything... the USA misses everything.
14) Isolated, the USA fails
19) USA misses penalty
20) USA sends the ball to the post
25) Alone, the USA misses the goal
27) Penalty for Portugal, and 1-0
34) Good pass, and isolated, 2-0 for Portugal
41) Cross and goal for the USA, 2-1.
49) Good opportunity for Portugal
64) Good opportunity for Portugal after a cross
81) Best opportunity of the game, isolated, the USA miss the goal
82) In the corner, another great opportunity for the USA
83) 3-1
84) 4-1
85) Isolated, the USA miss another great scoring opportunity
86) USA miss another penalty
88) Good opportunity for Portugal

These are the statistics on the number of goals per shot made throughout qualifying.
We conceded goals in almost half of the shots conceded. This statistic is mainly associated with the quality of GKs. However, USA has fantastic GKs. This statistic is completely ridiculous.

I will say that although you are right, to an extent, about ME luck today...the tactic you chose to use today was not great. Not so much structurally flawed, but more of a poor choice.
I will PM you more specifics of what I mean later today (need to step out shortly). I will say that at least you are willing to listen to my input, unlike your predecessor who 'knew it all'.
Our GK today was as good as anyone else's. Superdivine form. This gives me flashbacks to one of my Cup games with Israel a couple seasons back. Played each goalkeeper a half since both were in great form/similar skills. Second half I put a superdivine guy in, with the lead. Proceeded to give up 4 goals on like 5 shots. I mean, really??

What did I want to see the team do today? This:
https://youtu.be/IYLcPfIlKzY
The opponent has 2 very wide midfielders, who attack a lot... and I wanted the USA to wait behind, I put an attacking midfielder to take advantage of that space... and make plays like that.
What does the opponent do?
https://youtu.be/g2OmSKfBvkE
It's so easy to win games like that. When I am born again, I want to be born Polish.
After the 60th minute, I switched to a more pressing tactic as we were losing 2-0.
We managed more possession of the ball than the opponent, including in the opponent's midfield. For what? Apparently... just for fun.
I added a winger in the 60th minute, with the aim of dribbling past the opponents. What did he do? He constantly passed the ball into the middle.
What did the midfielders do? They made short passes between them, and then passed the ball to the defense. Our attack was completely blocked by the game engine! If I were Polish, there would have been balls placed on the winger, who was often alone.
If this game had been normal, we would have won, as tactically we were much superior.
The opponent made some passes forward (just like a normal midfielder does), and scored the missing goals.
I can only wait to be born again. Again, 9 shots and 4 goals.

I've been holding back on my comments so far, but I couldn't resist. Are you saying that a tactic with one striker is offensive? You're losing 0:4 and you finish the match with one striker? You had 1 shot in the entire match and you write that you were tactically better and suggest that your opponent won because... he's Polish? I'm sorry, but I've never read such nonsense.

Yeah, no offense, releme but this tactic was remarkably passive. You were never scoring tonight. One striker versus a 5 man backline is surrender.
This looked like a tactic in which you wanted to limit their offense, which is OKAY but dude, one attacker and one winger, with the other 8 field players behind the ball 90% of the time, is NOT attacking. It's surrendering because our team is NOT as skilled as this one. In fact, this reminds me of a match against FC Harambe a couple weeks ago, which resulted in my second loss of the season. Maybe Harambe had the ol' ME 10 man skill boost, who knows. Regardless, I deserved to lose because I created a tactic that didn't suit the quality of my players. Even then, I used 2 strikers. You can watch part of it here: https://sokker.org/comment?matchID=41416526
I have since burned that tactic. Maybe in a couple seasons I'll try it again when I have a competent midfield. Then again playing three in the middle without a full trap asks a lot.
---
Now all this said, our goalkeeping does seem to suck. Breakaways should be saved with some level of consistency at this level. Everyone's got top end goalkeepers, unlike say mine which has been consistently inferior my entire time in ML.
Regardless, we still lose this game, just maybe 2-0. Which wouldn't be tragic, but don't pretend we could've won.
However dude, there's no conspiracy against you. I would point out specific examples of what I'd have done different but I'm really not trying to educate my opponents in this country to what I know, and they don't.
---
Also, let me point out our team score was nearly 76 today for those older players who think this matters. I'm here to tell you it doesn't. I've been in first place for half of this season, and top three the rest and my team score is right at the league average. Skills and form matter, team scores can be inflated and deflated artificially simply based on a tactic and RNG. Speaking of that, in my latest friendly this striker got a 72 and 76 in his last two friendlies just sitting in the corner:

Match scores are rng but normalize over time somewhat. 73? 76? functionally no difference as far as I'm concerned.

You see more relevant differences in match score and quality of team at lower levels, like U21.

Are you saying that a tactic with one striker is offensive?
No. Nowhere did I say it was offensive. I just said that the team pressed more, because I moved up the defensive line.
The players made absurd decisions. Even the horrible players on my team, when they receive the ball with space on the wing... none of them pass the ball back into the middle, and stop the team from attacking. If the players behaved normally, they would have done what all players do. If they had played normally, the USA would have had more shots after crosses. In the 1st half, the USA had an isolated player, who decided to pass the ball hahaha We had a lot of opportunities to shoot, but stupid things were happening.
And when I see again 4 goals conceded in just 9 shots (not in 1 game, but in all of them), after all the hate I suffered from the Poles in a game managed by Poles... do I have to pretend that I'm stupid?
But for those who benefit from things, everything is good people and it's because they are good.
