Onderwerp: [NT] USA NT - Discussion

You've dropped to the 4th pot and you really think you're on track to qualify for the World Cup? I don't know a bigger optimist :-)

Dear Sir, this season we haven't lost any games against teams from lower Pots. Last season we lost several... so ok, the results are not the same. The results are better. Unfortunately it's still not enough for 2nd place, but the results are better. And this is my first season. The coach you loved and who was here for 6 seasons, got 4th place in his first season. So, I repeat... I'm doing better.

We haven't lost any games against teams from lower Pots. We are in Pot 4, but now we have 2 easy games to get back to Pot 3. It is in the friendly season that we can choose suitable opponents to climb the ranking.

The USA U21 had a terrible WC, but I didn't tell you anything... because it's normal to lose against stronger teams. So, for the sake of consistency... I would appreciate it if you didn't criticize these defeats against stronger teams.

I inherited a poorly managed team, and only this season is there any preparation work for the next qualification. In the next qualification if the USA fails, ok, the responsibility is 100% mine. Right now I'm just paying the price for those who in the previous qualification didn't worry about giving minutes to players who needed them.

This gave me a good laugh!

Norbert lost most of the U21 team that helped him qualify to the WC which was much stronger than this year. This season we have the weakest attacking players in a few seasons while only having a goal differential of 1:4 against stronger teams. He also only lost to Poland 2:0 when they played.

Meanwhile you are getting blown out in matches with the same squad as last season.

It’s ok to say that the players are lacking in pace but that’s likely to be true for the last 6 seasons as well

Pace is low compared to other similar teams. But we have 23-year-olds that I have already put into the game, and in 2 seasons they will be 17. Furthermore, I have been adjusting things in my tactics to try to find a solution to this limitation in the USA, and in the last game, this problem was barely noticeable. I will apply the same solution (not the same tactics), to see if it continues to work well.

I have until the end of the season to confirm this.

Regarding the U21s, the players are worse and that's why they shoot more wide. The goals are smaller.

USA U21 lost players, but so did the other U21 teams.

And yes, the USA team is very similar. That's the problem. The players have lost skills, and the younger ones lack experience. There hasn't been a proper renewal of the team, and I'm paying the price for that. But I'm doing the job, doing the renovation, and in the next qualifying we'll have a much better squad.

100% agree with trga here.

ultimately, I'm not worried about 'comparing results' between previous administration and current. They are different teams.

I couldn't stand the previous leadership because not only did he reliably lose games he should've won throughout the term, but constantly telling us how 'well' he was doing while being at times completely uncompetitive.
Although Adivip never blamed any other country's players for any problems.

Look, we are in third place right now. You want to shut people up Releme? Finish third. That's the best case scenario for this country. Adivip in his three cycles (Cup) finished 3rd, 4th, and 3rd.

Experience isn't going to be fixed in a season by playing them in an extra NT match. These kids, with the exception of Cheatham, are likely still advanced training at 24,25, even 26. Experience is a pretty big deal along with form in consistency of execution.

Trga played in the previous qualifier with a U25 team in some games. To me, his opinion is completely incoherent, and is based on what he considers most popular at the moment.

Islander, I understand your point, but you would be surprised by the quality of our young players. We will finish 3rd, but we also have a great chance of doing very well next qualification season, with the approach I am taking this season.

If so, you are allowed to make mistakes and change your mind, you know.

I'm doing fantastic at this game and I'm still making mistakes - just not as many. I still learn things every week, even if it's alterations of a previous viewpoint I had.

Trga already explained to you that he used 25yo players because he already qualified for WC then & didn’t want to risk his 1st/2nd team players…

Big NTs do that. I used my first team players only in 2 games in these qualifiers. Other games I used, B, C, lately D team players plus best 24-26yo players and good players that are out of form so their form might improve.

I also did it not to risk best players getting injured & for fun of community. It just gets boring to use best team every week against weaker opponents.

It has nothing to do with „working for future” or „preparing for next qualifiers”… before you had a theory that Croatia won the World Cup because he used 25yo players (that didn’t even play at the WC xD)

You have too many theories and you do too little… players experience doesn’t really matter, it doesn’t improve skills or anything. It’s just part of team discipline, if team discipline is low = player moves a bit out of position (which is actually often GOOD for strikers and winger), it’s only bad for defenders and only noticeable when team discipline is very low.

It won’t make any difference if you use the 24yo players in two or three more games (it won’t be enough to improve anything and they already have high enough team discipline), while it will make a difference if you mess up the ranking and end up in lower pot. You always concentrate on wrong and made up things.

He used a U25 team because he opened a vote and the community chose U25. One of the options in the vote was U27, which would protect players of training age. So he did what was most popular there.

I don't make choices based on popularity. You have your opinion, you have the right to it, but we don't all have to be the same. There are many strategies different from yours that can be valid.
2024-08-12 09:12:09
You can as well have a strategy of playing only blonde haired players…

All your players, even the young ones, have team discipline at level 14-16.

Improving their experience won’t change anything.

1. 2-3 games won’t matter, you need many games to actually improve the experience at higher level
2. 14+ TD is already high enough not to see a difference
3. TD/experience was introduced years after the game started and it only influences how the player moves in comparison to tactics

You are concentrating on things that don’t matter and won’t have any impact on the result

I do agree that experience is a very minimal thing, form on the other hand is huge!
2024-08-12 12:05:22
Yup, form is very important.

If you have a gynecologist friend, you will give him a very happy handshake. However, if you have a proctologist friend, you won't want to shake their hand. What's the difference? 1 centimeter.

Right?

That's what I have to tell you about 2/3 games not mattering. I think it's important to take advantage of every opportunity. In isolation it is little, but in the long term, it accumulates and there are many opportunities.
