Onderwerp: [NT] USA NT - Discussion
I didn't know the talent, it's rare for someone to write about talent, he was 17 years old and it was the beginning of the season and he had these skills:
[3] [0]
[5] [4]
[3] [6]
[2] [6]
Currently at the age of 22 he has the following skills:
[11] [0]
[13] [8]
[11] [9]
[8] [13]
[3] [0]
[5] [4]
[3] [6]
[2] [6]
Currently at the age of 22 he has the following skills:
[11] [0]
[13] [8]
[11] [9]
[8] [13]
29 subskills is a pretty safe gamble this early. Good purchase.

When I started coaching the US team, I noticed that a lot of the midfielders were broken by training, that is, they had practiced playmaking and passing, but there was a complete lack of speed and technique, which are also important. It is obvious that they were trained by people who played Hattrick more often than sokker, because that is where such players were wanted. In sokker, such players are unfortunately useless.

I suspect they still sell for a lot, because the typical manager here doesn't know how to effectively train a youth. Whether it's the hat trick influence, or simply the fact that many buyers see unearthly in something at a young age and they overpay.
In my experience to this point, you can line up a 20 year old player with unearthly defense and formidable pace, and another with unearthly pace and formidable defense...and the latter player will sell for less. This is why a page or two ago I said there's really two ways to train players: short term profit, or long term quality. You can kinda do what norbert suggests, but in doing so you are typically relying on someone else to go back and spend a season or so rounding out that pace at 22, 23. Unless a manager keeps the player for the full life cycle.

And when it comes to skills for the position, more or less it looks like this:
Goalkeeper:
Stamina: + Goalkeeper: ++++
Speed: +++ Defender: -
Technique: - Playmaker: -
Passing: ++ Scorer: -
Defender:

IMO:
Defender:
Stamina: ++ Goalkeeper: -
Speed: ++++ Defender: ++++
Technique: +++ Playmaker: +++
Passing: +++ Scorer: -
depends whether side or central
if central - tech more important than playmaker, playmaker more important than passing [honestly don't care about passing in a CB, high tech is extremely important]
side defender - yeah, equal is fine, I'd favour tech&pm over pass a bit
Defensive midfielder:
Stamina: ++ Goalkeeper: -
Speed: +++ Defender: +++
Technique: +++ Playmaker: +++
Passing: +++ Scorer: +
and where is central midfielder? :P
IMO it's very important to have top level playmaker and passing among central mids, at least one so he can make through balls that get to the target
Winger:
Stamina: ++ Goalkeeper: -
Speed: ++++ Defender: ++
Technique: ++++ Playmaker: +++
Passing: ++++ Scorer: +
5+ speed & tech
4+ pass &pm
1+ defender
Striker:
Stamina: ++ Goalkeeper: -
Speed: ++++ Defender: ++
Technique: ++++ Playmaker: +
Passing: + Scorer: ++++
in perfect world yes, 3x 18 ATT :P
but if not so good, I would prioritise pace and tech over striker
plus in general: IGNORE stamina training... yes it's important, but it will improve to MAX on its own, untrained
I have a 20yo, he started with [2] stamina, already has [9] stamina, never trained it
it improves from general training once every ~8 weeks

Hi guys, I always read this forum in the shadows, but this surprised me....
Winger:
Stamina: ++ Goalkeeper: -
Speed: ++++ Defender: ++
Technique: ++++ Playmaker: +++
Passing: ++++ Scorer: +
Why only 3 crosses in PM? and only 1 cross in Striker for Wingers?

I'm going to speculate it's because wingers really only need enough vision to see half of the field.
Whereas a central or attacking midfielder needs to see from sideline to sideline.

Since the winger is on the side of the pitch and he doesn't playmaking the ball, speed, technique and passing are more important to him, playmaking is important, but those 3 skills are more important
And for a striker the most important are 3 skills, then defense, playmaking and passing are not that important, unless you play with a very defensive striker or a striker ala winger, then it's a different issue, but if we're talking about a typical "9" then it's better to focus on the 3 most important skills here, and then on defense.

Playmaking is very underrated in ATTs, you ever had one with at least [13]? Completely different performance than low level pm strikers:)
Same for wingers, higher pm means faster decisions, betters decisions… top level playmaker mids/wingers can create a goal situation out of nothing, same with defenders who can make a perfect through pass for 1v1 from their own half
Imo lots of people undervalue playmaker while it’s an extremely important skill at high level

In your opinion, is playmaking more important than defending for a striker, or equally important at the same level, and passing lower?
I prefer higher pm among ATTs than higher defs, ideally one with high pm and second with high def
I once had a 3x [18] with 2x [15] in playmaker and passing and he was a beast playing as a wide striker
I actually wonder if this is why my trainee striker Ran has done so well despite inferior skills all this time. He's got outstanding PM now.
Might be. In Germany I had two very similar ATTs last season, one with 8 pm other with 12, the second one was always much better and playing more intelligent (as much as this game allows)
