Onderwerp: [WC2010]USA-England

mrfan, I pretty much said they were quite lucky with the result and their one point, even though they were awful...I still stand by that....I also stated that the U.S. showed that england are not that good of a team.

As far as your comments about the U.S. playing aggressive....they still showed almost zero attack, they only had two shots inside the penalty area in the entire 2nd half, one of which was the Altidore run. Both of those shots were before the 66th minute.

If the team wants to think that they are the team they were last summer, then they need to play like it. In the Spain game, Lady Donovan was used as a CAM and his main purpose was to work with Bradley (michael) to transition the ball from the back third to the front third; Donovan was also involved in the attack, by getting the ball to the forwards it enabled him to join the attack. He and Bradley played great together in the spain game and the 1st half of the Brasil game. As soon as Coach Bradley decided to play defensively, they got burned bad by Brasil.

I'll say it again, Coach Bradley is terrible and needs to go.

So is that set of teeth you've got.

Onyewu again standing around holding his junk..... That guy sucks; at least Torres is in the game for Clark.
2010-06-18 17:40:46
Yeah! 2-2!
Grtz

As soon as they took that piece of crap Onyewu off the field they equalized.. HA ha Pefect.

Onyewu is a great player. Please, keep in mind that he's been injured for quite a long time, and is only fit to play since a couple of weeks ago. During the first game, against England, he was one of the best on the field.
2010-06-18 18:13:55
yes, but should have been 3-2 USA...that was a horrible call on the non-goal on free kick at the end
2010-06-18 18:25:15
You really don't like Onyewu do you?
2010-06-18 18:56:43
Ha haaaaa , not really, I also don't like Coach Bradley too much either. I think the U.S. would do much better with another manager. I don't get it, if US Soccer can be run by an Indian, why do we "HAVE" to have an American manager?

I called it before the tournament and now two games in, Onyewu is the cause of all three goals against the U.S. I think the U.S. would be better going with 3 defenders moving to a 3-5-2 in the next game.

I'm expecting England to bounce back today and CRUSH Algeria, but I still think the U.S. game against Algeria will be no walk in the park. Not as much because of the talent, but because Bradley continues to put the team in a position to have a poor outcome.

I still think Lady Donovan would be better off as a CAM, he needs to be on the ball more because the U.S. has no else that can handle the ball and pass it without coughing it up.

When the game started earlier, Torres was handling the ball okay, but he wasn't pushing up with it. If Donovan can carry the ball in the midfield and attack the final third, he can draw out defenders and allow Jozy and Gomez/Buddle to be in space to receive the ball and then attack the goal.

Still, GREAT goal today, by Lady Donovan!

I don't really get your 9 yo banter, but I'm still amused.....by that set of horse teeth, not the ones in your horse photo, but on your face, in your chairman's photo.

Are you Gary Dell'abate's son?

First of all, everyone predicted Onyewu would suck because has hasn't played because of injury. He is a good defender when healthy though. He was to blame for the 2 goals as he didn't close down and than he was out of shape and couldn't catch up with the rest of the US defenders to get in line and pull the forwards off.

And again, Donovan does not belong as an ACM. That would be like playing Messi in the middle and taking a large part of his game away from him, but Messi is much better. Donovan is too small and plays best in open spaces where he can take players on. You do not get open space in the middle. I would love to hear what you think would be the best line-up for the USA. I believe you had said before that Michael Bradley sucked and didn't deserve to be on the field. I believe he scored the tying goal as well as controlling the middle of the field the entire second half and spreading the ball out.

Could be worse, we could have Fabio Capello as a manager. I guess being an England fan would feel much more frustrating right now.

Argentina ARE playing messi as a CAM, right behind Tevez and Higuain, but he is mostly free to roam where ever he wants. While I'm not comparing Donovan to Messi, I'm suggesting that he's played in the same way. (Sokker won't let me line the guys up and keep pushing everything to the left)

Altidore - Dempsey

Donovan

Feilhaber - Bradley - Edu

Spector - Bocanegra - Demerit - Cherundolo

Howard

Also, I never said that Michael Bradley sucked, I think his father sucks as a manager. Michael is really the one on the U.S. who has a set of balls in terms of having an attitude on the field. I think he watched a lot of Patrick Vieira growning up.

And, Onyewu has only had one good game and that was against Spain last summer, everwhere else he has been horrible. Milan picked him up solely for that one performance to discover that he was useless. He played in a few friendly matches last summer for them in that tournament in the U.S. with Inter, Chelsea and America; he was horrible. Even before his injury they realized that they couldn't risk playing him because he's a liability, something that New Castle and Standard Leige already new. He was at Milan for 9 League/CL games and didn't see a minute on the field before his injury.

Like you said, EVERYONE new this guy was horrible. EXCEPT for Bob Bradley. Not playing for 7 months and coming back from injury even makes him worse. I think the pre-cup match against the Czechs proved that and still Bradley keeps playing him.
