Onderwerp: Why I hate Hattrick!

2007-07-03 16:01:50
@guac - never thought about the day trading aspect. That makes sense, but it would make more sense if there were a minimum amount of time a player must stay on your roster before you can list him without a day-trading surcharge. That would fix both issues.

Still shouldn't be able to fish, not just for day trading.

Fishing for idiot bidders just makes the market more difficult. On hattrick i sit there putting in min bid amounts of 1.5x the player's value on the market a bunch of times before i list for a lower price. Half the time i find an idiot after 3-4 listings.

Here it would be MUCH worse, since the appropriate price for a player is MUCH harder to determine.

I personally start every player at $1, unless I am selling a super-stud player. Sometimes I get more than I expect, and sometimes less. It evens out.

I do too jon, i would prefer not to list at that price, but I feel no other choice.

On HT I usually list at about 75% of what I expect, unless it is a case of of sell for a ton or keep him.

Personally, I enjoy both games for different reasons. HT has gone downhill in the past year to 18 months because of the abysmal state of the economy. I was within 1 point of promoting into D.II this season, but am now having to sell off two of my best players so I don't go bankrupt during the offseason. That's frustrating as hell. But I'm a member of a fed over there and have been for almost 4 years. I've made some solid friends there and most of us keep playing the game just to maintain membership in the fed.

In my opinion, the strategy is more engaging in Sokker. The training aspect is also more rewarding and engaging. In HT, if you try to train multiple skills in a season, you'll be lucky to get a single pop in each. Here, you can see the results of your multi-skill training much more rapidly. So from a game experience standpoint, Sokker is more fun for me. From a social standpoint, I still frequent HT more often.

I think HT has the potential to get better. But they are going to have to get the economy under some semblance of control before that can happen.

@Athos, I just promoted to div.iii, after one season in div.iv. I am in the process of selling off top players just so I can right the ship. It had not been my intent to rocket so fast, and wages plus too small an arena caught up with me. I actually like the challenge of trying to stay in div.iii (which I won't) while rebuilding.

@athos, bring the fed here too! :)_

I have to stop typing this much. Besides, I've probably said much more than anyone, including me, wanted to see/hear/read.

So, I hope I am done with this topic.

What are your wages?

I don't plan on my HT training making a profit. I plan on my new trainees taking over for the trainees I need to sell. I am able to keep my wages about the same over time and I am ALWAYS able to sell old trainees for more than new trainees this way, regardless of the ecomony.

I just finished my 2nd season in D3, 5th place both seasons. Could of finished higher each season but went for the Qualification games.

$212k. Hard to say where it will go. My best two IMs are over 30, my keeper and top strikers are 21. So not sure where it will go.

I had no idea I would run through div.iv. I had some lucky results, but still, only lost 1 game, drew 2.

Thats pretty low for D3.

I just lowered mine to 282k(was at 310k for most of the season0, But i'm adding a new striker soon.

edit: I got the stiker,
(gewijzigd)

edit 2: deleted striker stats, momentarily forgot Pewsum is in my HT series.

rofl, scouting HT on Sokker, amusing

I think I will have the lowest salary in my IV, by a lot. Wonder if I can twist that into staying up though.

get on HT and accept the friendly.
2007-07-06 00:12:42
Yeah, I agree with Athos here. I was in the fed with him (ESPN fed), and a lot of the guys there play both games.

I just applied for a new HT team yesterday, but they appear to have denied my application (they banned me for life a few months back). The only reason I applied was because my brother suggested I come back for the ESPN fed and the Werewolf fed.

What did you do to deserve being banned?
