i think barsa will buy torres too, bad notice
2010-05-19 00:15:19
They don't need Cesc
2010-05-19 00:39:44
True. I think there's no point in bringing him as a sub (not at least with the price Arsenal will ask), and that with Xavi and Iniesta they already have nr 1 and nr 2 in that kind of positions. The team Hells describe looks nice and everything but is "unfieldable", you need at least Keita or Busquets to help Toure, so that's why I say he could only be a sub. And there's also Pedro... Nah, Barcelona would make a big mistake by "going Florentino" and start trying to buy impressive names regardless of their needs :P

villa is a first step:)
2010-05-19 00:48:01
Villa instead off Ibrahimovic is necessary
2010-05-19 00:48:42
Iniesta has health problems, also he wasn't really that good during this season. And Keita is good for playing against Tenerife or Valladoid, but not top teams. Imho Cesc would be fine.
2010-05-19 00:55:20
Cesc can't replace Keita. He can replace Xavi or Iniesta (imperfectly) but he can't defend. At all.
So Touré+Keita or +Busquets would stil lbe necessary.

Iniesta has health problems,

That's true, but that's whay I meant by being a sub: would you pay 40? 50? million to have him in case Iniesta goes injuried again? You are better off saving the money and getting a Maxwell-type of reliable sub ;)

@ninomusic: is a possibility, ore than a necessity. THey can do fine with the trade, but also without it. Giving up on Ibra too soon is also "going Florentino" :P (at least if Pellegrini's sacking is confirmed).

Yes, but Toure + Busquets is enough I think. And Iniesta needs a quality player to replace him, playing Toure + Keita/Busquets + Xavi is much worse.

The question is whether there is a need for saving up money?

On the other hand, there are positions that need 'upgrading' more than centre of midfield :)

What are you talking about? If there is one player with Barça DNA that doesn't play for FC Barcelona, it surely is Cesc. He can slot in perfectly and he belongs at the club. When Barça play their normal game, 1 holding player like Yaya is more than enough. Against some teams I am sure, with the possesion barça have, a Xavi-Cesc- Iniesta midfield could work perfectly fine.
It's not 1 player that defends..the entire team starts pressing like crazy when they don't have the ball. Cesc can do that better than anyone I believe. A player like Keita just doesn't add anything to the team. Have you seen him play an entire game? He can only give no-risk passes to his left (Maxwell) or towards Xavi. His defending is below par and his only attacking threat are those runs from deep that barely work.
My point: Cesc would be a massive addition, even more considering Iniesta's injury proneness and Xavi's advancing age. Heck he can even slot in for Messi if needed..

He can only give no-risk passes

You underrate such passes. In fact, there's a limited number of risky-passers a team needs.
2010-05-19 17:13:11
And you clearly underrate Fabregas :p
