take a look
---this was a unfortunate incident, BUT Pepe always was one of the best defenders of la liga.

I never said anything about this situation, I was assessing his defender skills.

Puyol isn't that good anymore.

@madrista
he was one of the worst defs that played at RM during his first season.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First of all, Pepe could be the best defender I've seen in Real Madrid, he was THE GUY in defence, the only irreemplazable player, with Casillas, in the squad. Fast, clever and super good in the one-vs one, with a formidable skill stealing the ball to any sort of player. Actually, Real Madrid suffered a lot when he was injured because all the defensive system was based in his speed and skill; in a very advanced defence he was the player who had to go back and block all the passes between the lines because there is no other central defence as fast as him.

Second, Puyol did a super season... he saved Barcelona several times in the game Bacelona-Real MAdrid which, at the end, decided the championship. He was really spectacular. He saved his team versus Inter as well few times in Italy, and he saved his team more times during season! Without him, Barcelona could have win no titles this season, even more, maybe we casn say that without him Barcelona could have loose a lot more of points.

during his first season.

agh, I realized now... well that's true :P At least at the beginning he played quite badly, it was something lile "we know he can be good, hehas skills but he's doing many mistakes". Fortunatly nowadays he's a superdefender

Now he's a totally different player :)

I think Milito is great and should have been in World Cup. Not many matches for him since his last injury, but stil he did very good after coming back. Overall, I guess Barça could use a 4th centre back (I consider Márquez over too :P), but it can also bet on Chygrynskiy developing from the 4th choice role. He's young and he had skills back in Shakhtar so why not?
Now, if we talk about the keeper... :P
