cambiasso isnt that old. zanetti is the best and fittest 36 year old out there - he keeps a cool head and he still has the passing and tech abilities. i mean he plays better than most younger ones.

together they are the backbone of Inter - huge amounts of experience lost for Argentina squad.

dont get me wrong, i understand that there should be younger players but theres still some old ones as well. i understand zanetti not making it but im sad for cambiasso just because maradona loves macherano and for that reason dosnt give him a chance.

Ronaldinho had better season than Kaká...
2010-05-12 21:54:15
MUCH better. And he was playing really good, he still has brilliant dribbles and opening passes.
2010-05-12 22:12:56
Yeah. I wouldn't be surprised if Kaká had to stay home instead of Ronaldinho...

Yes. Maybe, as someone said, he's past the peak of his carreer, but still this "below-pwak" Ronaldinho plays better than most other players.
I'm happy becasue of Brasil losing such a great player, but I'm sad at the same time because I expect Brasil to be more dangerous playing ugly :P

I have to say Argentina is in worse state than Brazil :P

Argentina is really great player-wise, they just lack one type of player, possibly the most important one - enganche. There's no such player since Riquelme got old...well Aimar is kinda enganche type of player, but he isn't the top of the top. If Argentina had a true playmaker, like Sneijder, then they would've been my favourite to win the whole WC.

the lack of argentina is about their coach...
2010-05-13 23:08:20
That as well :)

My thoughts exactly :)
Only that Riquelme quitted NT even before getting worse, cause he had some argument with Maradona (as he had with almost everyone else :P).
I also think that we are not taking the best we can to South Africa, although we it would be enough provided we have a terribly good 'enganche'. Sadly, we'll be playing... Verón :-/

There is one good Argentinian enganche, playing in Italy at the moment, Javier Pastore. This guy definitely has what it takes to command the team, I think that Argentina will have a lot of good things coming from him. He is not called up for WC though...I don't really understand Maradona. Pastore, Cambiasso, Zanetti, Lucho Gonzalez, Aimar not even in the best 30...hm...
2010-05-14 19:08:58
Lisandro Lopez, Gabriel Milito... the list is very long.
2010-05-14 20:04:10
Pastore is among the 30 ;)
He and Bolatti were team-mates in Huracán. They got second place that year, and then got sold to Italy :P But Maradona seems to like both.

I miss Aimar, though :-/
(gewijzigd)

The problem with Lisandro is the long list of strikers we have anyway. I mean, you can argue that he's more a "killer" than Agüero or Messi, but then there's Diego Milito, Higuaín... and of course, Palermo :P
2010-05-14 21:31:20
it's a shame that bolatti will go to south africa and cambiasso won't

here in italy we know very well maradona and his strange decisions but now he seems domenech :)
totally weird!

about pastore, he will became a great player for sure but he still plays too much for himself and that's won't be such a great thing in a team with messi, aguero, tevez...

by the way every great team have this kind of problems

brazil with pato, ronaldinho, ronaldo, adriano, ganso, neymar, hernanes
argentina with gabi milito, cambiasso, zanetti, lisandro lopez
italy with cassano, miccoli, del piero, totti
france with benzema, mexes, frey, vieira
2010-05-15 09:07:46
half of that list doesnt go to the wc :p
