Onderwerp: Do u know leo Messi?

2005-11-03 22:16:46
Ok- so you're main atts are
Crespo - Tevez
And reserves?
For WC you need minimum 2-3 strikers in reserves

Probably the forwards are gonna be Crespo and Saviola, then you have Figueroa and Tevez, plus Aimar it´s not exacly a offensive midfielder, is a player like Messi, what we call "media-punta" meaning in english, something like "half-forward", i don´t how is it call this position in english.

i take thats going to be chelsea's new striker next season then :p

Juangunner is right, he's not a striker. He plays the same style as Aimar. So, he doesn't play as Maradona.
Actually, Aimar and Messi do half the things Maradona did (dribbling, scoring, some assists), while Riquelme does the other half (holding up the ball, scoring with long shots, long accurate passes, most of the assists... and, the most important thing, to be a real playmaker).

Our "target men" at the moment are Crespo and Figueroa. Tévez can eventually play this role too, and Cruz is another striker doing weell right now, but who knows if he has a chance...
Beside them, there are some "high technique" forwards :P Namley César Delgado, Tévez, Saviola.
Then, behind these ones, there come the "offensive midlefielders", the "media-puntas" :P Aimar, Messi, Santana, and maybe you could include Lucho González here.
The classic argentinian "10", a full middlefielder, is Riquelme, as Maradona was in his time.
That's, more or less, the overview of what we have "to attack". The kind of players to use depends on the style chosen by Pekerman, but whatever it is, there's just not enough room for everyone, at least in the starting 11 :P

I'm sure Messi we'll play in the WC next year. He's already playing in the argentinian squad and in the last game he was the best man together with riquelme.

Besides, he's going to explode this year in FCB and do great thinhgs, and finally, to the wordl cup go 25 players, so this is a lot and he'll be there. Another thing is how many games he'll play....

About Barça, Deco is not warming the bench, he's injured for 3 weeks, and moreover he wasn't in very fit currently... Van Bommel is playing better than him and even Iniesta.

PD. Cavenaghi and Figueroa (who's a bencher in Vila-real) better than Messi?? Don't make me laugh....

Messi played in NT only after Argentina was already in World Cup, so we could afford some "testing". We like oir NT to be ruled by Pekerman rather than by newspapers, and I think it is a good idea (it wasn't like that some times, and the result was bad). Worst thing we could do is to hurry Messi up and "burn" him too soon. I don't know how to translate "exitismo" (exitism? :-?), but that's the word to use when someone makes a god out of a kid who played just a cup of good matches. If he has to be in Germany 2006, he will, but we can wait until 2010 as well.

To ask if Messi is better than Figueroa is like asking if Sorín is better than Abondanzieri, or if Albelda is better than Raúl.

the best team in many many years.

in Barcelona, sure; in Spain I don´t think so, in europe... sorry but n-o. My opinion is now, player to player, Real is better, but it´s difficult to apreciate because are all injuried. Zidane, for example, was out of form or injuried all this season.

Could be a good idea to join Messi next world championship... but "to obtain experience", I think people like Aimar, more experienced and better-minded will be more useful. Using Messi when the match is finishing or if the team needs a miracle at the end of the match.

Of course, this is my personal opinion.

Leo Messi has been granted Spanish nationality and he is now free to play for Frank Rijkaard's side. The Argentinian youngster had been considered a non-EU player for the first team until now, but with his new passport he will be able to join the squad.

The quest to obtain a Spanish passport began in July 2004 for Messi and were finally completed on Monday. The club immediatly informed the Spanish Football Federation and that means that he is now free to play for the team without any problems.

Lionel Messi was born in Santa Fe, Argentina on June 24, 1987. He came to Barcelona in 2000 aged 13 and joined the club's infantile side and having spent more than two years in Spain, he has qualified for dual citizenship.

Having secured European passport, the situation is now considered to be closed after a long and complicated process to make him a Spanish citizen. Messi was unable to play since he appeared against Albacete last season, while the club attempted to clarify the problems surrounding his eligibility.
