I joined this game in 2005/2006 and I left in 2012 because I was fed up with the lack of progress and general attitude of the owners.
I came back 3 months ago, assuming that things must have improved. They have not.
The lack of progress from 2006 is simply astonishing and whereas once upon a time this game was held together by the community, even that community has now given up trying to improve it. No doubt realising that their effort and ambition was wasted when faced with reality.
Apathy, unfortunately, is infectious.

This is pretty spot on (although I do agree with all/most comments in the previous page too).

I think it is great that some people continue to buy plus regardless with the thought "they need resources to continue to improve" which is true
But on the flip side, like any business, you need a product to continue to improve if you want a subscription based game. They were basically paid from 2009-2019 for doing absolutely nothing with the exception of server costs (much less than the amount they were bringing in from plus).

So there are 10 years of income they could use for the current "improvements", most of which I don't feel are improvements but as a consumer, all I can do is give feedback and let the owner decide which direction they feel will make the game most successful as it is their product.

My credit card is waiting to be used on this game again (I used to always buy plus), but unfortunately most updates have been at the expense of small countries userbases, one of the many reasons why they can't grow the userbase in high disposable income countries like Australia and New Zealand who would otherwise have a high % of plus subscribers compared to other countries. The cricket game I play which is basically sokker but for the sport of cricket, has something like an 80% plus subscription because the devs are constantly working to improving the game and they get updates done normally within a season, so users can see the improvements. This is even after the main developer of the game passed away from cancer.

So in the end, the only thing holding this game back from becoming more profitable are the devs themselves. The userbase could probably double from the current number and the plus subscribers up 3-4x realistically, which would give some nice supplemental income for the owners, but going much able that would be difficult because the vast majority of people prefer a fast paced game that they can play over weeks or months. (obviously all us old guys love the slower pace *cough* 16 week seasons *cough*)

I agree with everything that you said, what frustrates me is everything said here was being said back in 2010 or before. I know this because I was the bloody one saying it ;)
I specifically remember when the user base dropped sharply from 85,000 to about 40,000 over about 6 months, that I came on here talking about player retention. How the gap between established and new clubs was getting too large, how new users were essentially abandoned to work it out, that default tactics were an abomination that actually put people off the game (bare in mind that back then we still had an active community that tried to guide new players).
And then some jackass Admin shut me down, told me I was wrong and that new players just need to try harder.
Nothing has changed, if anything the situation is actually worse now for new players. I'm hardly inexperienced at this game, I'm a former 4x NT manager and I've found aspects of this game difficult (the economy in particular is broken), some of the rules verge on being anti-userfriendly, the changes to the youth system (which I assume was meant to balance the game) actually just make it harder for new users. If I find these things difficult, how on earth are new managers meant to deal with them?

I've actually been monitoring Sokker England since I came back, and the numbers joining actually aren't terrible. But they don't stay, and I'm guessing it's the same everywhere. Yet it seems no one in 15 years has said "Hey, I wonder why this happens", they certainly haven't tried to do anything to stop it.

Eventually all questions will lead back to the owners motivation, and the subscription increase will lead to serious questions now being asked.

Are you taking this money to improve the game, or are you just taking this money?

Hey, I remember that you were salty and crying and promised to leave the game half year ago

I think you are also a crook and a liar (and a dog, whatever that means)

And another one!

That wasn't an abuse, I simply asked you to think, I'm sorry if that thought offended you

It would be very fun seeing borkos dealing with a bunch of ~20y.o if they ever joined the game. Why are they letting this game die? I am not a very old user and I said since the beginning. They need to focus on bringing users while they work on the game!

No point to talk to you I just want staff to treat you as you deserve forum will be better place
2023-09-24 18:23:30
There's really no point in bringing new users NOW because the whole game is a mess, it doesn't even have up to date rules after the changes in training, league etc. Remember that most people will try the game once, if you show them the game in such a sorry state they will never come back and you will just lose money spent on promoting/advertising the game.

Nobody asks you to talk to me, so kindly shut up and go away

The forum will be a much better place without you running around me spurting those toxic comments, nobody even talked to you, so go back to your cave
