Onderwerp: Stadium Build Ratios?

2007-12-03 06:08:55
naphtali [del] naar Iedereen
Does anyone know where to find research into optimal stadium build ratios (terraces vs benches vs seats). By "optimal" I mean maximising crowd size and profit.

I know it has been done. I remember reading about it when I first joined Sokker, but I can't for the life of me find it anywhere now.

If this should be somewhere else, a newbie forum perhaps?, please move it, just let me know where you have moved it to.

Cheers,
Naph

I'm aware of the relative costs and incomes etc.

What I'm looking for is the data of what ratio/proportion of the different seats maximises your crowd income for a non-sellout game.

"Supporters select the cheapest stand from the ones that suit them. However, a spectator is likely to buy a ticket for a stand with a higher cost, if their preferred seat is sold out." - The rules

I know that some people interpret that as "Have all seats and nothing else", but I remember reading when I first started that the optimum ratio was something closer to 30% terraces, 40% benches, 30% seats.

No, optimum ratio is a 100% all seater stadium with roofs. Why? Fans which prefer cheaper stands will, at any time, come to your stadium when you don't have those cheap stands, they just choose a more expensive one.

Optimal is only seats, covered with roofs.

by all means, don't build terraces. NEVER o_O

I would disagree here. When I was moving up the leagues, I found that I could generate a higher income with the money I had from building a larger number of terraces then from building benches or seats. Sure if you haveunlimited money, dont build terraces, but wen you havea limited amount, but are right up the to of your league with lots of supps, terraces are a great idea.

Now they are just sitting around waiting to be upgraded

Figures for demand for each ticket type
• Standing 7%
• Terraces 29%
• Benches 38%
• Seats 26%

These figures state the % of fans that will want each seat type. The highest demand is for seats, which means that they are more likely to fill than the rest of the ticket types. Remember though, that if a fan is unable to obtain the ticket type they want, they will opt to pay for a more expensive ticket, so it is still ideal to have an all seater stadium where possible, rather than having the percentage of seats in your stadium as stated above.

How many spaces should I have?
It depends. As a rule of (very rough) thumb, your maximum attendance will be somewhere around 8x(your supporter number + visitors supporter). i.e. if you have 250 supporters, so does your opponent, expect up to 4000 attendees. THIS IS VERY APPROXIMATE!

If you want more help you can find it in Newbie Malta in Maltese forum ;)

You're right, they're very useful for quick money generation.

wow, thats really great. :D thanks a lot.

according to the size of the stadion, there is another thing you have to consider: the number of visitors depends on the weather:

an english user - who else? i think it was forestman - has done research about this. he managed to proof that there is a strict correlation between the clouds in the sky and the actual weather :] . if i have understood his other findings properly, the average attendence of visitors will be reduced to 80% of the possible maximum because of the changes of the weather.

@ all seats-and-roof-idea:

thats only true for very rich clubs or clubs whose fan club is about 2000, so that is only a slow growth at the number of supporters. all the other clubs will not be able to build new places in time, since their supporters grow faster, and a roof is very expensive. so its better to erect cheaper places for a start.

practical and more economical ratios are

25% seats along the line
75% benches corners and behind goal.

unless covered there are no extra income from seats behind goal and in corners

roofing optional as it takes a long time to earn the money back in

I disagree here. I don't consider myself to be rich and I don't have 2000 supporters, yet I fill my 36k all seater all roofed stadium quite often. Maybe the fact that I've been able to build a stadium like this makes me rich, but my team has suffered as I prioritised my stadium, so I don't know.

it must be very hard to get into premiership and in your league you should have reached the highest possible number of fans by now. - so it makes sense to upgrade your stadion without rising the number of places. - but thats a special case.

anyway i cant believe that you aint rich. if thats true, you better check the books before the next meeting of the board. i would also start asking questions about the bold lifestyle of your predecessor.

I've got less than a million euros in my account.
I'm getting more than ten fans a week at the moment.
2007-12-03 17:58:23
less than a million can still be quite a lot of money - if you still get new fans than i would enlarge the stadion: hope you can afford it.

I agree with you, yours is more practical, but to learn people my is better ;)

I still disagree with you. In my opinion seats are still the best possible option. Want to expand your stadium but you don't want to invest in roofs? Expand your seats along the line. When you have more money you can start with the stands behind the goal.
