Robert Kubica (Lotus Renault) has hit a church in a rally in Italy. Several sources report of a broken fist and/or wrist.
Let's wait and see. Some sources claim that his hand will be amputated, some say that his legs are broken, some that his hands...
Anyway...I wonder if Renault will keep his contract if it happens that he won't be able to drive for half of season.

Kubica is one of the best drivers in the world ... of course they'll keep his contract. I think they'll just contract another experienced driver (for instance Nick Heidfeld) for testing, and maybe for driving the beginning of the season.
Interesting thing: on Italia news sites you can find mostly comments like "go Robert", "fight Rober!!" etc. In Poland there is an awful lot of jokes...
Most of them connected with Smolensk accident [you know, the one where our president died].
For example, there are jokes that this time Pietrov was the one responsible for accident to be nr 1 in Renault.
Or a popular one, which needs some background. There were short films right after the Smolensk catastrophe and some paranoid people heard shots and wrote: 0:23 - we can hear shots! 1:13 - we can hear someone crying 'help me'
etc. now after almost every movie you can find this kind of comments.

Indeed, Lotus Renault has confirmed Kubica has several fractures at his right hand, right arm and his right leg.

I don't know, I praise the sense of humor - seeing the potential joke doesn't mean you disrespect the guy. In fact, the one "with background" is quite good, and if you thinks about it, the joke is not on Kubica: it is on paranoid people ;) (at least, as far I understood it).
Having said that: I hope he recovers as soon as possible. I wish he was as lucky this time as he was in Canada!
