The last two friendly matches and the last chance to test tactics before the World Cup. It's fair to say it's been a successful season, maybe not perfect. But a season in which we should be satisfied with the results.
Let me tell you briefly about the opponent. Portugal were in Group J with teams such as Brazil and Slovakia. They were able to eliminate the fifth ranked team - Brazil, in the last round. However, this didn't work out, as they played a poor match in the last round against the Philippines losing this match 0:1 and eventually finishing the qualifiers in 3rd place.
Portugal is a very good team led by a great coach. The last game they had against England was at the same stage a season ago where Bryan was leading the England team - Portugal - England 5:2.
The plan for this match is simple - to get revenge for the last game and not lose a goal.


Expectations: Rival is respectable by your supporters, but they expect a win.

England - Portugal 5:2

The last match between these teams ended 5-2 for Portugal. So a perfect rematch for our team.
Unfortunately there was a problem with the service today and watching the match is not possible. By the stats we were clearly the better team, we scored 5 goals which we should be happy with.... but we lost 2.
Statistically we finished 28% of our shots with a goal. I'm very curious about this match, how it looked, how it went for those 90 minutes.

They have already fixed the possibility to watch matches in 2d. So I'm going to say a bit about this match.... we had a lot of situations that we didn't take advantage of. I don't think the result is fair... but kudos to the Portugal coach for putting up a fight. He set up quite an interesting and offensive tactic that gave him 2 goals.
It is interesting to note that after this match we moved up another two places in the rankings.... Which gives us 22nd place already!
I'm not sure where aligator has been ranked these past few years.... but running Scotland and watching England I don't think it was that high!
I'm proud of this season, although there's still one more game to go, to which I heartily invite you! :-)

You have done brilliantly, I believe but I maybe wrong that BR kept us at 25th roughly which is where Aligator ended up. Either way you are definitely higher now so congratulations.

Before the match against Serbia we were in 28th place, then I lost and we were in 29th place for 2-3 weeks. After that it only got better.
I am now curious for the group draw for the World Cup :-)

England - Azərbaycan

England(22th) 2456.55 VS Azərbaycan(40th) 2010.43

If I'm counting correctly, we have three friendly matches left before the most important tournament in SK - the World Cup. This week we face a rival that is tough - Azərbaycan.
They didn't advance to the World Cup but can't be ashamed of their results in the group, playing their last match against a strong Romania, drawing it 1-1.
Akhenaten - the coach has over 10 years of experience leading his club and national teams (5x Azərbaycan U21, 3x U.A.E and 4x Azərbaycan NT).
It will be a great pleasure to play against such an experienced user and, as always, I hope for a favourable result for England. For the win! ❤

England - Azərbaycan 1:4

The rival today was better, faster and more effective. They scored 4 goals out of 7 shots, that alone says something about the match. Unfortunately it wasn't our day, we finish this match one player less and that's a bad sign for the upcoming World Cup matches.
I'm very angry, even though it's only a friendly match. Will try to put it right next week in the match against Scotland :-)

This is what WC - Group H and the schedule for the coming weeks looks like. Here there are no more weak teams, no more weak managers. Every match is a fight for points.
Watching the other groups at the World Cup I am a little disappointed with the draw. We have a very difficult group. In fact, right from the start we are doomed to play for second place. Poland, as the coach himself says, has one of the better squads over the last few seasons.
The other group rivals are Estonia, which is a very good team with a talented coach who has a lot of experience, and Mexico a team that won promotion from Group A with a team like Italy. It promises to be very tough and very interesting - which is what I like best. It's time to start preparing for the World Cup.
I'm hoping for a lot of luck, I'm hoping that everything will work out well for our team and we'll get promoted from this group - that's my goal. I hope for nothing more and make no promises!

That is a horrendously tough group! All you can do is your best….you did well so far to just qualify.

As for today, it’s better to have a bad day today than in a tournament match. ;)
