Bryan, why do you have so many Italian football players? well the Italians have proven over and over again they are the best defenders, not having Buffon Cannavaro is hard in fact i am changing Passerella to canavaro, also Chellini was immense in the Euro's Cananvaro was so quick and precise being smaller

2 of mines are still in my current team. Would've been 3 yesterday but since then I sold Bergkamp.

Tactical discipline is the foundation of Italian football success. Until 20 years ago, probably only Italy and Germany were structuring their teams with TD as their first criteria of selection. Defending was not an art but a science. Each player had a certain job inside their sqaure that had to execute perfectly. Baresi, Maldini, Costacurta, Ferrara, Cannavaro, Bergomi, Bonucci, Chielini etc are part of that system.

I forgot about Warhurst, that's 6 in my team now

We have always been about the 2nd best defenders , not under Southgate which is odd

I can’t remember back that far… agree with aluminium home trained keepers was always a gap until new system. I used to always train strikers so rest of squad would be bobbins…sold a few star players over the years.

Reminiscing makes me think about my cash pile I had when I lost my team in 2018/19… dammmmmnnn.

Yeah Borkos, it would be hard, as you say! Also, whoever you mention you'd have someone object. I agree that Shearer was a class striker and would make my starting England side (from 21st century). Personally, I find Shearer a bit of a twit but as a player, he was fantastic! As most people will know, I'm not a Man U fan by any stretch of the imagination but I would most definitely have Scholes in my side too. As would Terry, Ashley Cole and Rio Ferdinand. Tricky thing is getting Gerrard, Lampard and Scholes in midfield together as they're all quite attacking players. I believe Scholes back in his early days used to play as a striker! I also liked McManaman and Kieran Dyer (when he was fit). Owen and Rooney to be included.
Possibly play a back 3 (Cole, Terry, Ferdinand), McManaman, Dyer as wingers. Scholes, Lampard, Gerrard to make up the Central midfield positions and Rooney/Owen, Shearer up front. Seaman in goal just because I can't think of anyone consistently better. I know there's many players I've left out but it's impossible to get everyone in. Also, this is my opinion, which others might disagree with!! ;)

I always liked Dyer as well, though I expected that he'd have a better carreer...

Watched him a lot during his Newcastle days, later on when Charles N'Zogbia joined the team I thought that NUFC have something really good going on

Another English player I rated a lot was Joe Cole.

Btw. it always baffled me how it's possible that Andy Cole got a measly 15 NT appearances while Emile Heskey reached over 60A
