Is that confirmed?

Such bad luck for Southgate, Slovakia obviously having more quality players than England.

Reliable Bellingham saves England

We were awful again, the way we set up is a bit of a joke and the lack of left back really is so obvious to everyone apart from Southgate.

Agreed. We were absolutely terrible. It's such hard viewing. If it wasn't for Bellingham's moment of brilliance, Southgate would be gone today from his job and we'd be out the Euros. Great goal Bellingham, well played sir!

I'm pleased to see Kane get the winner. That'll help his confidence.

I'm just hoping that all our bad play is now behind us and we can actually start putting on a good performance now.

Come on England!

Comparing how England and Switzerland performed in their 1/8 we have to believe that football is after all unpredictable ;)
2024-07-01 08:42:46
Indeed, it is unpredictable. On paper you'd argue England are favourites but on tournament performances, you'd say Switzerland are firm favourites! Anything can happen...

Come on England!

Supporting England is like supporting a political party. They promise a lot and deliver too little. Somehow FPTP keeps them relevant and our lives are affected by them.

You aren't wrong! lol

They will end up sending us to the Monster Raving Loony Party however ;)

There's so much hype these particular days about people that really don't deserve recognition (politics included). I turn the TV on and it takes about 5 minutes for me to turn it back off. I read about the dodgy deals that Premier League clubs are doing without anyone stepping in. We're being tortured by pundits talking non-sense trying to put the players on some gods pedestals, while watching them being outplayed by some players we never heard of. The English refs are doing their best to show the world why no one likes VAR over here.

I spent the weekend with my youngest son and his mates (drove them to a theme park). None of them cares about football. When I was their age I didn't care about anything else but football. I still remember first 11s of the best teams back then. I couldn't understand someone who didn't like football (not that I met such person back then). Today, young people can't watch a game without paying a fortune. And when they watch it, Oliver and co make a circus out of it. They can't follow a team without paing another fortune for the kit.
Imagine sitting down with your son after telling him that Bellingham and Kane are some sort of wizzards, pundits coming up with all their "outstanding, unplayable, amazing" crap... and then watching your son yawning and drifting to his phone because a tiktok is more exciting than the game. Coz it is.

Premier League, the greed, the pundits "patriotism" will drive away people from football. 20 years ago you could tell England is in World Cup or Euros just by walking down the street. Everyone was excited, cars were flying those little flags, everyone wore an England kit, etc. You wouldn't even know England has a football team now. People don't care anymore, the football is not ours anymore. It's just another marketing scam.

It’s a bigger problem, including those TikToks that you mentioned and their influence on children. Kids today have a much shorter attention span and have problems concentrating because they are used to fast and strong stimuli due to TikTok/youtube etc. Football is a lot about waiting for one or two moments.

Also in the 80s or 90s football was so popular because there wasn’t much else to do other than reading etc. Much less movies/tv series, video games were barely starting, going out with a ball was the best option back then. Not there’s a lot to do other than football and it’s a „problem” in whole Europe.

I agree, the sales from Newcastle are a pure joke! How can they achieve those prices for players that aren't really even Prem proven?

Does anyone know much about Elliot Anderson? 35m for a promising youngster.

A home grown talent sold to help satisfy the FFP rules for Newcastle's situation!
