I have no idea, but if he can't then we should have taken someone like Tyrick Mitchell who finished the season on fire.. Shaw will no doubt be rusty too after the time out injured!

Many wrong decisions, shaw shouldn't be there, Trent shouldn't play there, Mainoo should be coming on at 1-1 not Gallagher, Southgates only 2 tactics , over lapping wing backs , when we score wing backs stay back, we have through history like to try holding a 1-0 lead from way too early in the game, our team is packed with forward talent, attack attack attack i say, Denmark deserved to win, maybe England should only have 1 point.

I agree! There are memes going around of David Moyes holding a Southgate mask....lol....it's exactly what we did, score then sit back and try and hold a lead, whether it was Sheff Utd or Man City the tactics never changed.

Well, Gareth is inconsistent in all of this - if he doesn't change anything in tactics - he could have continued with Harry in defence because that's the style he fits into... and when he didn't take him to the World Cup I already started to wonder if maybe things would be different after all.... he quickly cleared up the doubts.

Everyone blames Southgate. Is there a chance that the players aren't as good as media/pundits tell us they are? Just asking...
It's a massive obsession with Premier League being the best league in the world, and, by projection English players being at that level too. It doesn't mean that is true. English teams have been schooled by teams from other leagues. And, when they succeeded was hugely due to the foreign players playing for the English clubs. If you take the England's players one by one, they're not really as good as we are being told. I will say it again: the English media made you all believe Paul Scholes is World XI player. Outside England, football fans struggle to make the difference between him and Nicky Butt. That's if they even heard of Scholes.
I think Southgate gets quite a lot of a bunch of average players. There were better managers coaching England and (arguably) better players playing for England in the past. We were told the same thing, best league in the world and all that. They also failed in front of better squads and better players.
Maybe it's time to point out at the crap we are being sold by the sport media. They do it so we (literally) buy their crap. They need our money. That's all.

I couldn't disagree more with your comments.

Southgate is a nice guy but out of his depth when it comes to managing the national side. I don't think he's tactically on it. He looks clueless, especiallywhen things turn against us. Englad actually have a very good squad of players, there are no excuses. He simply needs to step up. Bellingham, Foden, Kane, Rice are all top players. Denmark in 92, Greece in 04 won this tournament. They were not better sides than what we have. Southgate needs to set his side up better and get them motivated like Bobby Robson, Venables etc have done previously in other tournaments.

We have the players capable of winning of course. As does France, Spain and others...

Southgate has had wonderful chances of winning in the previous two tournaments and failed. I'm not sure he has what it takes. However, I absolutely hope I'm wrong.

Come on England....

He's too passive. Everyone and their mother could see the problems after the Serbia game, and then he puts out the same bloody side. To me, that's taking the piss.

I am not a Man Utd fan but regarding Scholes, if Xavi, Iniesta, Busquets and Messi all say he was the best midfielder they’ve played then I would think he’s pretty good. ;)

I agree, he sets up to not concede….we score then sit back. He cost us the final vs Italy, then against France in the semi he subbed Saka who was terrorising their left back who had been carded already too.

The midfield should be Rice, Bellingham and Foden! Foden is too good to put out on the left when he’s been the best player in the prem this season centrally.

At left back how can Trippier play when he’s had a shocking season and couldn’t get on the Newcastle team?

That's why we love football.

A horrendous decision to disallow the Dutch goal! Unlucky Poland, the first team going home unfortunately. England may still join you! :/

The first game was decent, it was nice that we tried actually playing football.

Today not so much, first 20 minutes were terrible, Zielinski said after the game that all we did was running and not even trying to fight back. He seemed very frustrated throughout the game, only player that actually tried something and was able to do anything positive in offense.

Oh well, we didn’t even deserve to be here after what we did in the qualifiers, so we can’t really be surprised how it went. End of the road for a couple of players, I wonder if Lewandowski will still want to continue. And as weird as it may sound, him finishing might not be a bad thing for us.
2024-06-22 00:37:57
I think most Poles believe that despite Robert Lewandowski's great achievements, it's time to start looking for a way forward without him.
2024-06-22 00:41:31
He will be 38 (without 2 months) at the World Cup and he’s already looking like a baggage since at least a year. Still can be a very useful player, but not necessarily in our type of NT.
2024-06-22 00:49:49
We need to respect what Robert has done for us, but perhaps we need to look for new solutions.
