Onderwerp: POLL: bot teams in top divisions

2012-01-16 20:31:00
SLAMBOT [del] naar Iedereen
There are 3 bots in the ML, and several strong A league bots as well. Ideally these teams would disappear and everyone would just move up a rank to fill our divisions from the top down, but that isnt an option in this game.

I asked greg what our options were, and there are basically two:

A. Do nothing (currently what is happening).
B. Make them auto loss 0-5 bots.

The only good reason i can think of for doind nothing is to avoid several dull auto-wins a season.

But there are many good reasons to ask for option B. It takes waaaay too long for strong bot teams to gradually get old and start losing. Also, strong bot teams knock out people in the cup all the time and make it all the way to the quarters/semis very easily. With option B, we could purge bots from the ML for next season, and from A league by the end of next season, making room for active managers.

What do you think? now would be the best time to ask greg before promotion matches happen

(I wouldve made this an actual poll, but i dont see the option. must be a plus thing)

You always going to receive the same answer: if you can't beat a bot, why going up!!!

because its a bot that was managed for 5 years taking spots away from newer managers and knocking people out of the cup. every other game gets rid of them

I like the idea of them auto-losing. Would this apply to bots in all leagues (ML, A-league, & B-league)? I could see it helping active managers in lower leagues financially but also making the disparity between the top club in a league and the bottom club in a league even wider. Even so, I think helping out the lower league clubs financially is better long-term decision to improve competitiveness. It would take a couple of seasons, but eventually those in lower leagues, with the help of higher sponsor incomes would start to catch up to those already in a-league. I've got 5 bots in my b-league and it would be great if we could fill those positions up with actual managers, even if their teams weren't marking as high.

Option B!

And then the answer will be, that the team will not be good for long, and still you should be able to beat it with tactic!!!(knowing how they will play).

It has been discussed, i don't think anything will change. if you like i can try in the MOD forum....

But i suggest you to use the Bug-Ideas forum instead of here!

So is this something that Greg would have to implement across all leagues and countries in sokker -- that is, if he decides to make a change???

I like option B for the idea of moving active managers up. Not only that, but these bot teams are generally pretty strong higher up and since they aren't worried about their futures, we have to wait many seasons for all their players to age to the point of losing skills where they lose their strength and drop.

That being said, giving them auto losses is a bad idea in my opinion. Maybe up in the ML and A leagues it's a good choice to avoid them affecting goal differentials too much, but what would we do about bots in C leagues that fill up over half the league?

If I was a new player and I joined a C league with 6 bots, the game would be extremely boring as I would simply have 12/14 free wins that were walkovers and I never got to see my players play. I would probably quit the game before I even moved up to B league.

I think the best solution is to do what hattrick does, where after a team is abandoned and becomes a bot, it simply gets a new lineup of players (like a C league team has). This way it will fall very easily every season, but will still create games to be played and still be competitive once it reaches C league so that they aren't just getting consistent walkovers.

I bold this choice because I think this is definitely the most logical option and greg should seriously consider it.

Agree with lLama boy....

Bot teams should get new players just as a new owner does.

May not be the best option for ML and A league, easy the best option for B and C leagues.

dio, youre missing the point. i am attempting to make a special request to greg to go in and fix our US leagues only, which i am hoping he could do in a matter of minutes. i am trying to garner support here in the US forum so that if i request the destruction of the lingering teams in the ML, i can say that the majority of US users like the idea. its not what 'they say', its a matter of our personal opinion: would you personally like option A or B?

B is the best option, we should reward active members with promotion, they may get slaughtered, but is more interesting than a bot match.

plan b also has the added benefit of increasing the money to weaker squads. granted, league strength goes down, so upper level squads would see a drop in sponsor monies.... but largely, that money is not what sustains and grows a good A or ML team.

the income would help some of the lower teams move up faster.... increasing USA overall. which is good for all of us.

more good US squads, more junior squads, more USA youth pulls. more young American talent means a better national team...

better national team and we don't get to hear bickering about why the best didn't get played.

i would like to agree with you, but i've seen Greg answers in my MOD tenure, and i can say "it is not happening". You never know if you try!!

As j said. If it's happening here it as to happen in every other country. As of now i can think of Australia as another Country as with the same problem.

Anyway Greg is busy with other improvements in the game right now...
