When this early season fixture was scheduled several close followers of the American program predicted an easy victory for the young yanks and a chance for some younger talents to debut. But with Slovenia coming in riding a 3 game winning streak and looking dangerous under their new manager, their was a palpable air of seriousness on the training field and in the press room during the lead-up.
"If we take them lightly we'll drop points," commented the manger, "They're a good side, well organized, with no real weaknesses. With our current ranking we can't afford to take anyone lightly. We need 3 points here."
Coming off a modest 2 game winning streak of their own the Americans have climbed one spot to 37 in the latest ranking updates. A victory here could see them close the gap with Moldova and Mexico, ranked 36 and 35 respectively. However a defeat or draw would see them drop valuable points in their quest to reach the top 32 by season's end.

Well a hard fought draw against a tougher-than-advertised opponent. But in the grand scheme of things this is a major disappointment for the US.
