I feel as though this drives up the sale price of players. Less flipper activity results in more demand for a smaller number of desirable players on TL.

Im not sure about that to be honest. Flippers usually concentrate on youths freshly from youth school - they basically bid every possible decent youth every weekend trying to get some for low price and by doing so they raised the average price while also pushing many people out of the fresh good youth market.

Now they can't buy youths all the time because after buying they need to keep them for 10+ weeks so it's impossible for them to flip. Thanks to that it's actually easier to buy good youths for decent price.

He went to TL with 7 fives but i got 6 fives back :)

I disagree. It is beneficial if you buy well. You can just max out each of his skills once you realize talent is bad. Still can make a decent profit after a season.

you can never know for sure. of course it is beneficial if you buy well but if you dont buy well then keeping the player is waste of time and money as compared to training a talented player. geston db helps but there is always a chance of buying someone who has no talent imo
if you have 2 players, 1 is talented, 1 is not talented, then i dont understand why you say keeping a player which is not talented is more beneficial than keeping a talented player, which was the point of my message. If there is no requirement for keeping a player for 4 months or so, one can buy a player and if the player has no talent, sell him and buy another one. Of course, one does not buy a random player and using tools helps but no tool gives you 100% confidence. your point makes no sense.

I think there's more consistency in buying if you want to work at it. Not everyone can, though.

Selling is still pretty random, but with the reduced volume of players I do think it's a bit better for sellers then before.

You can never know for sure but you can greatly minimize your bad purchases by doing research beforehand.

1. Use geston database to check the past.
2. Use sktables to simulate future

Now you know how much you can pay for the guy and still make profit.

Of course talented player is better. Im talking about management of a bad purchase. I would still train for profit with less than optimal talent. A lot of random, unexpected pops will happen down the road.

this means if i buy a player which has no talent, it is not beneficial to keep him because it makes more sense to train a talented player but new tax rule makes it hard to sell such players. if a player has no talent, why would random or unexpected pops happen? players dont magically change talent and dont just randomly pop.

your point is about situation that happens before that - i.e. how to optimize for not buying a player which has no talent. totally off topic and not related to the premise of my message hence your point makes no sense. My premise already assumed buying a player without a talent.

you make biggest profit on first resale of a young player when you have proof that the player is talented + you can get a lucky transfer when you buy a player that is close to pop in 2+ skills

when you buy a players that is not fresh from youth school, he is usually either at higher price (proven talent) or not talented (hence why he is being sold) and usually "popped out" in most/all skills

many times when not talented I find exactly opposite and get a lot of random pops, seems like managers are running out of patience. Also less talented players are changing clubs more often, in many instances you can see seasons without a pop in a skill, all general training.

Of course it all boils down to skill level and age. Certain skills just look great to the buyers. 7(good) looks and pays way better than 6, magical pays way better than brilliant.

Here is a good example of what im talking about.

If I saw a guy flipped that often, I'd stay away.
