I didn't watch the game, but the result of the match was very good and very important in terms of ranking points. The key moment was definitely a red card for the opponent in the 50th minute and just after that the USA scored 2 goals. Also important in the end is a significant advantage in shots and few shots of the opponent.
Overall balance of the season
We finish the Qualification in 3rd place. It sounds like a normal position to me as the last few seasons USA NT has gotten a 4th and a 3rd place. However:
- Last season the USA NT played with very old players and lost 3:4 to Island (51st in rankings), 2:1 to Nicaragua (58th in rankings) and 3:1 against Ukraina (54th in rankings). It's impossible for a team of old players to improve, and the renovation of the squad was not done at the proper time. More important than these losses, it was indeed the impossibility to improve as players would not improve the Skills. Consequently, in my first season, and playing Qualification, I was forced to make the renewal of the squad, the fruit of the incompetence of the previous management.
- This season, USA NT has not lost any games against lower ranking teams. This is a clear improvement.
- In the late stage of the season, already with the most experienced young players and with the highest Pace, we won 1-4 to a Pot 1 team, who was ranked 4th in the rankings. USA NT, which was a dead team, has been improving throughout the season thanks to my squad management work, and can already win games against Pot 1 teams!
- With me, USA NT started by getting 5 goals from Schweiz and 6 from Österreich. The previous season, with the former coach, USA NT had 4 goals from Island. In the previous qualification USA NT has suffered 6 goals from Colombia. Clearly there was a structural problem at the squad, which in several seasons was not identified, and I after 1 game I identified the problem. In the first game against Shqipëria, we play a defender with Pace 15. But for example in the last game against Schweiz, all our defenders had Pace 17. The fact is that there was a problem regarding Pace, and when I rejuvenated the squad, I chose the players I knew would get Pace 17. The result is that in the last 3 games we only suffer 1 goal, and this includes a game against a Pot 1 team. It is also true that the Kazakhsán is weak, but the Kazakhsán did 5 shots against Österreich and scored 2 goals against Schweiz. However, Kazakhsán did 0 shots against us. The tactical changes were on the offense, so they do not justify this improvement in defense. The defense improved as I gave the young players to evolve opportunity.
- It's completely incorrect to say that USA NT had chances to qualify after the 1-4 win against the Pot 1 team. If people are that confident, that means I did my job very well, and I did the team grow. The team was dead, and I can't wait for players to improve in 1 day, but I did correct management, and yes... now we have a quality team for it. But only now!
- At USA there is engagement by popularity. I was the coach that USA needed, though not what USA wanted them. But we don’t always want what we really need. USA NT would finish 3rd place in either way, so I did the job it took to bring the success to the USA. I'm not here so you like me. I am here to evaluate risks, establish strategies, and in the end to win. If you want a popular coach...voting someone else. If you want to win, vote for me. I knew the USA NT was going to stay 3rd as always, so I decided to play with several young players, you have made my life a hell with so many criticisms, and the time proved I was right. Right now, any coach who takes this team, will get good results. But I had to be me doing this "ugly work" that resulted in some bad results. I was the one who lived in hell here...and after so much sacrifice now that USA are doing good results at the level of Sokker's best teams...would be a deep injustice if I lost elections, and another coach receives the fruits of my work. Now that I've done the ugly work, it's already ease anyone wins.
- Playing with young players are not only means putting the players in the initial 11. It’s important to look at the opponent, understand what position players are going to play the ball less... to put those young players in those positions where the probability of injuries is less. I've been so criticized because of the players to get injured...but the truth is that none of our young players were injured in a USA NT game. None! I am the best coach to do what I did! 0 injuries! So many criticism...and in the end, I only helped these players improve and none were injured. My focus was defense as if we get the ball back, we also attack more. The strategy was the correct one.
In addition to these important aspects, there are still some minor improvements:
- Now we have a more active forum, where there are comments on all the games (and not just in the wins). We have more people participating in the forums, and for example I was the one who launched the discussion of Pace, which I am sure will be important to the USA teams as well.
- Some old topics on the forum, which were fixed on top, I asked the moderator to take them off. Now we have a cleaner and more organized forum.
- The USA Association has a lot more members now.
- USA NT recovered its logo.
These are the steps of my project:
- Season 1) Renew the squad (completed successfully)
- Season 2) Ranking up
- Season 3) Get 1st/2nd place in Qualification
I'm sure that the goals will be achieved, and that I'll still be here to compete in the world cup. But if I fail, which I'm sure won't happen, at the end of the 3rd season I'll leave. I'm not going to monopolize the USA NT, as if it were my own team.

In 6 seasons, how many times have you beaten a team from Pot 1? I did it… with a 23-year-old defender. This player will play even better in the next Qualifier. I gave USA NT back its confidence.
