Onderwerp: Crappy juniors?

2007-05-03 05:15:55
I wait to figure out if they will be VG when they come out, no matter how long out they are. VG, I keep. Worse, I don't.

I am sure JS's pay off, most of you have great success stories to share, but you are all mostly A league or above and you started playing a while ago when this game was less competitve. There are more teams now, locally and world wide, and prices have gone up per player (on average)on the TL; simple laws of supply and demand.

I would just say that with my experience (with my JS) in the short time that I have been playing Sokker, if I had to do it all over again, I would not recommend establishing a JS to a newbie until at least their 2nd season in B league.

With the money you can save in 2-3 seasons, you can buy players (along with a good training plan) to put you in place to make a run at winning a B league title or advancing to A league, which will then put you in place to receive more sponsor money to cover the operating costs of running a productive school.

I posted this in the other thread, but it's pertinent here, too:

=======================

I'm having some good luck with my youth lately. I got yet another stud in the system. Here they are:

Zachary Pence Excellent 21wks 3.5wks/pop
Quincy Harding Solid 30wks 3.0wks/pop

Harding will probably not pop every three weeks, which is good, because if it stayed there they'd have to create a new rating for him, as he will come out higher than divine as-is. GO USA!!!

=====================

All in all I've been very happy with my YS. I've gotten plenty of good players, and the hits keep coming...

If I didn't have my junior school during my season in C or my first season in B, I would have missed out on Wendell Arthur, Rupert Jaso, Michael Penney, and Ante Harding, all guys who've posted 50+ ratings in at least one match for me.

Can't imagine what my squad would look like without them.

I guess you missed my point about you being in C league two years ago, when the game was less competitive with fewer people playing.
2007-05-04 03:49:21
How does that have any affect on what types of players you get in your junior school?
2007-05-04 04:35:13
I don't know, doesn't losing a lot affect the numbers of juniors you get?
2007-05-04 05:31:01
my youth squad has been unlucky but i still think its random
2007-05-04 07:10:22
# appearing in the youth squad is absolutely random. Not based on the # you have, not based on wins, not based on your coaches. (of course you need open slots for them)

What happens when they arrive in the junior squad is based on junior coach, but # who show up and the skill and talent are not affected by anything.

Except, of course, Great One Max's buttons.

I agree. I was in A League when I got frustrated and bored from being out coached. I sold all my players and decided to be a youth factory. I was concerned about bleeding supporters every week, and if that would affect the arrival of new juniors.

It did not seem to. I bought a magical youth coach, and hoped that they would show up. The juniors kept coming even though I was losing every week.

Continue with the story Burton.. Sounds interesting, what ever became of your dramatic strategic decision? Did you fair okay?
2007-05-05 06:06:30
I guess it depends on what you call okay, or successful. I made a bunch of money selling all my guys. I got bored looking at all the money in the bank though, so I bought the French National Keeper. I'm sort of a farm team\youth factory. I've had some great juniors come through. I think I've made over 2 million with those so far, with some big money guys coming in the future.

I'm not the only one doing it. I think all the major league teams have magical\unearthly junior coaches. There is just not too many that can afford it.
Unfortuneately, my team sucks. I lose almost all my games, but I don't care. I'm having fun playing this way. I am training some guys, but they are not great. I doubt I'll ever see A division again.

Yet another week with no new juniors despite having 5 slots open.
