I think the main logic behind this idea is exactly this (how you said).
Team value, place finished last season, money in the Bank > Expectations > Fan Mood > Income from attendens, sponsors, fans joining/leaving (it would be interesting if Expectations would also affect the Morale of the players and their Form at the end/start of the season).
Might not be their yet but after a bit of tweaking it will be... I hope :-)))).

I think it is because you lost to A league team and not ML team in the cup. If you lost to a ML team then I think they would be more tolerant.

I guess we'll see in a few weeks. If the Cup was simply a one-off then cool - no problem.

Cup loss always kicks in hard, no matter the round you're in.

yeah, cup is weird in general because of the rank differences, I won (barely 4:3) and my fan mood went down -1

I think it depends on the fan expectation going in....which is largely based on team rank points I think.

like, I won my league match tonight and the fans expectation was "we hope not to be embarrassed" lol, silly supporters. They should know better by now. Back to "madly" they went.

Fan expectation from a match to match basis was mostly if not entirely based on supporter sizes. Ranking has nothing to do with it.

recently i lost some ranking points by losing friendly games. this makes no sense - i thought friendlies dont matter

That do matter, they always did, just not much. Arcades don't matter.
